Hell Above Lyrics

I cannot spend another night
In this home. I close my eyes
And take a breath real slow
The consequence is if I leave
I'm alone, but what's the difference
When you beg for love?

As I run through glass in the streets,
Kerosene hearts carry the name
That my father gave me and
Take the face of the wolf

Cause this is a wasteland my only retreat.
With heaven above you.
There's hell over me

I met a girl who never
Looked so alone like sugar water
In your mouth luke warm
She tied a cherry stem for me
With her tongue
We fell in love and now we're both alone

Cause I don't need anymore friends
And another kiss like a fire on pavement.
Well burn it down till the end
Oh, oh, oh.

This is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you.
There's hell over me.

The water is rusted. The air is unclean,
And there for a second I feel free
Cause this is a wasteland
My only retreat.

I've waited all this night to honor you
And say "I know it's hard, but who are you
to fall apart on me? On me?"

This is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you.
There's hell over me.

Cause this is a wasteland, my only retreat
With heaven above you.
There's hell over me

You said "what about us?"
Well, what about me?
Hang from the gallows, asleep in the rain.
Cause this is a wasteland, my only retreat

Paralyze me.
Don't let me jump.
Don't let me fall.

This song is about their shows, or listening to their music. It's to all the fans who feel like they don't belong anywhere. "this is a wasteland, my only retreat." The shows are the retreats. Anyone is welcome, and they're just filled with good times and makes you forget all about everything else for a little while. It's sure made me feel like I belong.

My Interpretation

This is obviously about the torment that VIC faces at home, the conflict between his parents and within himself, hostility is being forced upon him, not necessarily through words but the act of nothingness. They do not gesture him with love-( 'The consequence is if I leave I'm alone, but what's the difference when you beg for love?') . He emphasis's the breakdown of his former life, his only retreat 'a wasteland', the demonic necessity in his words is ironic as a majority of teens fall helpless to suicide and self harm...'Don't let me fall' .

"i can not spend another night in this home i close my eyes and take a breath real slow" this refers to he is so hurt he wants to run away "the consequence is if i leave 'alone but whats the difference when you beg for love?" he is saying his parents barley acknowledged him. to be honest this song makes me want to run away.

I think it's about someone who realizes that he'd rather be alone in his world (a wasteland) then be in another dead end relationship that serves to only suck all the life out of him.

My Interpretation

This song means, to me, that you feel alone, and there's struggles in your house. When Vic sings "The water is rusted. The air is unclean, And there for a second I feel free", I think he's talking about self harming, and how it can make you feel. This song is pretty much my whole life in a few minutes.

Love This Song!!!!!!!

Yeah I definitely think it's about abuse or neglect at home. Most likely from his father. I think that because of the last two lines in the first verse "kerosene hearts carry the name that my father gave me and take the face of the wolf." I think this is part of his thought process about whether he should run away or not, if he continues to take it he might end up like that. In the bridge he also said "I've waited all this knight to honor you. And say I know it's hard, but who are you to take it out on me? On me?" He's saying that he wants to like his dad, but then his dad takes all his problems out on him.
