You had all of me, you wanted more
Would you have married me if I were poor
Yes, if I was your treasury
You'd have found a time to treasure me

How come you can't see
All that you need
Is right here with me

Up Until the end
All this pretend
Wasn't for free

Hold me like your money
Tell me that you want me
Spend your love on me
Spend your love on me
Now you have your money
Spend it 'til there's nothing
Spend your love on me
Spend your love on me

If we opened up a joint account
Would it put an end to all your doubt
Frankly if my name was Benjamin
We wouldn't be in the mess we're in

You played with my heart
'till death do we part
That's what you said
Now you have your fast cars
Women and bars
It's gone to your head

Hold me like your money
Tell me that you want me
Spend your love on me
Spend your love on me
Love me like your money
Spend it 'til there's nothing
Spend your love on me
Spend your love on me

Spend your love on me

I want you to take me
Like you took your money
Take me in your arms
Until your last breath

I want you to hold me
Like you hold your money
Hold on to it
'Till there's nothing left

Love spent
Feeling love spent
Yeah, I'm love spent
Wondering where the love went
Love spent
Yeah I'm love spent
Really love spent
Wondering where it all went

I want you to take me
Like you took your money
Take me in your arms
Until your last breath

I want you to hold me
Like you hold your money
Hold me in your arms
Until there's nothing left (nothing left, nothing left)

Love spent
Feeling love spent
Yeah, I'm love spent
Wondering where the love went
Love spent
Yeah I'm love spent
Really love spent
Wondering where it all went

I want you to take me
Like you took your money
Take me in your arms
Until your last breath

I want you to hold me
Like you hold your money
Hold me in your arms
Until there's nothing left (nothing left, nothing left)

One of her best songs ever. Awesome lyrics, production...everything. Clearly about a man who was more into the money than her. Interesting, looks like about 30 years after "Material Girl", M finds herself on the other side of the situation.

This is clearly a song about someone who was in a relationship where money was more valuable than love.

"How come you can't see/All that you need/Was right here with me"

In the song it's almost as if she is begging her partner to realize that everything they need in life is with her. But he is more obsessed with cars, women and bars.

Her mention of "now you have your bar" is a clear dig at Madonna's ex-husband, Guy Richie, because something that he wanted very clear in their divorce decree was that he gets the "bar" that they bought together.

Love Spent-One of Madonna's saddest performances. She Cries because love is sad! Call Madonna the Unlucky Star who has lost at love! A highlight of the MDNA Tour! I Cried when Madonna sang this sad song! Once again, Madonna wins!

Like I said in earlier post, Love Spent is about Madonna who is angry and sad about love. She is mentally exhausted. Call Love Spent the flip side of Eighties Classic a la Ciccone Material Girl. This time, Madonna got a raw deal! It seems that Guy Ritchie is the Material Boy! Madonna is mad as hell and she can't take it anymore. Is Love Spent her Network?

The ultimate insult for a guy is not only being called a "bitch" (Gang Bang), but also to be called a "gold digger."

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
