i actually agree with DrowningInTheDoubt. its kinda obvious that its about angels and the demons(in Genesis it refers the devil as a snake). There really is a spiritual battle going in and around us. Its up to you who wins those battles. hints the lyric "One must lead in the dance who's leading you"
I hated this song the first time I heard it, and thus I hated the album. But now I'm reconsidering... I now like this song.

Ahh, so great. Its like a peom in a song. The lyrics catch me off guard everytime i listen to it.
As to the meaning...I think what they are trying to say is are you letting God lead you or the Devil.. ....Maybe.
I think DrowningInTheDoubt is right...
It's an analogy between an act of sex and the spiritual battle between angels and Satan.
I initially hated this song because not only does it seem to describe a sexual encounter, the music video depicts a young girl in conjunction with an enormous snake.
I still kind of hate it, but I believe it means to say, that temptation is everywhere. You have to learn to make the right choices for yourself, no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, and no matter how many times you find yourself in those circumstances.
Every other line is either a positive or negative statement, then the chorus asks "who's leading?" and then states that the only one who can lead this dance between right and wrong, is God.
This can also suggest that good, bad, positive, negative, evil, etc...all of this is meaningless without God, for without God there is no dance.
