Sunrise, sunset
Since the beginning, it hasn't changed yet
People fly high, begin to loose sight
But you can't see very clearly, when you're in flight

Well it's high time (backing vocals)
That you find
The same people that you must use on your way up
You might meet up (pause) on your way down

Vintage wines from the year sixty two
Is your thing, is your thing
(Backing vocals) is your thing, is your thing
What pleases you
Not to be found for you cross town
The thing is for other girls just to have you around

Well it's high time
That you find
The same dudes that you must use on your way up
You might meet up (pause) on your way down

(Yeah) You feel the sunrise, set for you
But the same sunrise is step and shine, for the old folks due
I don't mind, your turn around
I myself would even like for a little higher ground

It's high time (backing vocals)
That you find Mr G
The same people you work hard on your way up
You might meet up (pause) on your way down

    Memory

This song always reminds me of a d bag boss I had once. He took credit for everything good and passed the buck on everything HE messed up.
He wouldn't back me on an incident that the Congressman's personal secretary screwed up and he took to reaming me out in front of the personal secretary just to show his "control" of the situation and to "teach me" to never fail on directions from a congressman's office. Everyone in the agency knew it was going to hit "the fan" and I was a dead man walking.
The secretary had all his notes and proof that I screwed up after all. He had dates and had times and even the length of the phones calls we had. He had everything written down. He even had notes in different inks from different days contacts. Amazing the detail and efficiency. Unbelievable how he kept track of everything.
Well... except he never gave me the assignment and his proof was BS. And I told my boss and the secretary after they finished their "show". See, I was on my honeymoon vacation for the two weeks surrounding the dates the assignment was given and the dates we spoke. My boss should have known because he had been to my wedding and he approved my leave. (He was only invited for political reasons) After the incident, the congressman apologized to me and my boss was given a "special assignment" with another government agency. He never returned to his old job. The secretary later entered politics and ran for congress himself. He lost the primary by 70%. They used me on their way up, but I got the last laugh on their way down.

It reminds me of some good times, but these lyrics are wrong. "The people you MUST USE" should be "...people you MISUSE..." AND in the verse about wine, it should say, "IT'S your thing, IT'S your thing,..."

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
