You came out of nowhere
Stealing my heart and brain
Flaming my every cell
You make me feel myself

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Will you stay on this land forever?
Will you stay on this land forever?

Across the time and space
A never-ending dance
A blooming and a trance
You make me feel my soul
There's no more loneliness
Only sparkles and sweat
There's no more single fate
You make me feel myself

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Will you stay on this land forever?
Will you stay on this land forever?

My body is like a lightning rod
Capsize me and douse me in your bay
A shiver of want, always
When you're on the tip of my tongue
And in the back of your parked car
I could build a fort
And play all day
Between your lips and mine
Let's stay here forever

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Will you stay on this land forever? (Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)
Will you stay on this land forever? (Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

This is easily one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard.

In my college philosophy class, we have spent a great deal of time talking about how the early philosophers tried to find essential definition for things like beauty, love, etc. An essential definition captures all particular instances of a thing, and is a perfect universal. It is very difficult, even impossible at times to establish perfect essential definitions. It is the work of philosophers to find these definitions because they enable us to understand reality, and to achieve wisdom about the particulars which surround us.

That being said, listen to this part of the song:

"Across the time and space A never-ending dance A blooming and a trance You make me feel my soul"

Not just the lyrics: the instruments, the tone of the vocals, the tune... this is what love feels like. This is the essence of a feeling captured in song.

"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ohohoh... Will you stand in this land forever?"

Will it last? We can only hope that the feeling goes on forever... but even with this song on repeat, I can't get enough. It's the greatest feeling ever. This song has actually caused me to shed a few tears of joy on a few occasions.

Nobody writes songs like this. M83 is right along with Arcade Fire as one of the only bands in our time that makes soulful music which captures the essence of things. This purity of emotion distilled into music is what all musicians should aspire to create. Words alone cannot do justice to the expression of the human soul which this kind of work represents: this is a rare glimpse into the very nature of what it means to live, love, and exist. This is art of the truest form.

    My Interpretation

I agree with everything said, however, we are forgetting that this song came from a concept album -- "Hurry up, We're Dreaming" is all about experiences of life felt in dreams. This song definitely has the essentialist tones that have been discussed and is very poetic, but the song does speak about long lost love. "Will you stand on this land forever?" is the author's pleading that his dream about his long lost love will not end.

"Hurry Up We're Dreaming" I think has a much more specific message than just love, spirituality etc. Yes this is a concept album, and yes the name of this artist is M83 (named after Messier object 83 which is a galaxy) Look at the titles of the songs on this album...... Look at the lyrics in most of the songs...... "Reunion" is not about romantic love with a long lost or forgotten acquaintance. Its about the return of our ancient ancestors who have come here (Earth) intermittently for millennia...."Will you stay in this land forever?"

The space theme is littered throughout this album ...

"one year 1 UFO" "when will you come home?" "soon my friend" "train to Pluton"

Lyrics in "Intro" are very telling when you apply them to this context....

We didn't need a story We didn't need a real world We just had to keep walking And we became the stories We became the places We were the lights, the deserts, the faraway worlds We were you before you even existed

This album is about making contact with and the return of our predecessors "Hurry Up were Dreaming" means disclosure might be near and the world we know might be shattered, because we are doing just that....dreaming in a world estranged from the truth.

Of course Anthony isnt going to disclose that this is the underlying meaning because that would be insane and unpopular. He delivers this idea brilliantly and subtly, and brings with it the message of peace..... NOT malevolent intent

This is a cosmic album with a cosmic message...

    My Interpretation

You make me feel my soul There's no more loneliness

There's no more single fate You make me feel myself

that song captures the feeling of pure happiness of finding the one you have been waiting for so long.

"I could build a fort And play all day Between your lips Let's stay here forever"

seems like it s not one-sided as well :) also, i am quite sure that this song is one of the favourite of the band. wish u happiness all as much as this!!

those are nice ideas about the space aliens but i'm pretty sure this song is about something more earthly - the new gf Anthony found in LA who helped him out of a bad depression.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
