It sounds to me like a long distance relationship. One has to wait for the other, but they know for sure they will see each other at some point in time. In no time at all.
I feel like it means to not dwell on life and it's mistakes because everyone has to live, everyone has a story. Everything that's happening and everything that's going to happen, there is no stopping it. There's no time to change the past or predict the future, so live.
It is an utterly wonderful piece of music which can be interpreted and resonate with your personal way and that is the reason why it is so beautiful. But if you really care what the creator wants to express, pls remember Anthony G. particularly stressed this album as a record and reflection of himself and his course of making music.
As to Midnight City. I think it is rather a reflection on the road of making music. It is not an easy dream to pursuit obviously. So many hardship , frustration but the at same time too much anticipation motivation, and hope from the orgastic future. Give the background at that time he came to LA pursuing his dream The city is the place where he paid too much for this dream to come true. This intimacy with the city he thrives is too strong to him it is too special place to him.
Wait is also my favorite. this music lifts my emotion to the highest level of intensity i have ever experienced. Thank you M83. to let that happen
When you say too much for him in LA, it almost sounds like to me like you're saying it was a bad thing for him being there. But I feel you mean something different, you mean LA had a positive impact on him right? Not the opposite? This song for me was an unexpected journey. It was just posted on someone's blog, I clicked play not even knowing the band, and I was transported. Sublimely and beautiful in an otherworldly way.
I think this song is about not being able to say good-bye to someone you love and feeling sad because you didn't get the chance, but knowing that eventually you'll meet or see them again since it's a dream/goal to be with them ("set your dreams where nobody hides").

This song for me is about my dog Fly who passed tonight, We both knew her time was coming, it was very quick, too quick and she passed before the vet could easy her pain... I think this song means that you have to put away all your fears to achieve what you want in life because there is, 'no time'.
