We throw tantrums like parties
We're not happy 'til everyone knows we're sick
And that's just how we like it
We've hurt bad enough, right, we've earned it

Don't tell the others but it's all getting old
I mean how many more times must our stories be told?
And being lonely's only fun in a group
It sort of loses its charm when it's true

I meant it when I said I wanna get well, I wanna get well
Are the rest of you so content, stay where you are but it hurts like help
And I'm sure it's fun at first, test your pulse and check your vitals
If it's only a game you lost me, I quit it with the suicidal recital

So now you know all my secrets
I want out, I know I don't need this
Can you find me friends that don't rank me on what I've been through
The more battle scars the more attention it gets you

Don't tell the others but it's all getting old
I mean how many more times must our stories be told?
And being lonely's only fun in a group
It sort of loses it's charm when it's true

I meant it when I said I wanna get well, I wanna get well
Are the rest of you so content, stay where you are but it hurts like help
And I'm sure it's fun at first, test your pulse and check your vitals
If it's only a game you lost me, I quit it with the suicidal recital

Yeah we should've known it would end this way
What did you expect, pretend it all away
And all we've got left is a sorry pile of hearts
I'm getting out, gonna write myself a new start
Come on dry your eyes, meet me on the other side
Run as fast as you can and we'll make it out alive
We know better now, we don't have to live like this
Go tell them all we don't have to live like this

I meant it when I said I wanna get well, I wanna get well
Are the rest of you so content, stay where you are but it hurts like help
And I'm sure it's fun at first, test your pulse and check your vitals
If it's only a game you lost me, I quit it with the suicidal recital

If it's only a game you lost me, I quit it with the suicidal recital

    My Interpretation

This song is about feeling lonely and negative all the time and needing to get help but your friends all think it's fun and games to pretend like they are unhappy to get attention. She realizes that they don't have to live that way anymore-they don't have to be negative and unhappy, they can live their lives upbeat and happy but they have to get help and some of them in her group need to stop pretending to be unhappy for the attention because one day they will wake up and find that their lies become the truth.

"We throw tantrums like parties We're not happy 'til everyone knows we're sick And that's just how we like it We've hurt bad enough, right, we've earned it"

They have pity parties, and they aren't satisfied until they get the attention they want by constantly trying to make people feel sorry for them. They think it's alright to do so since they really have been in so much emotional pain.

"Don't tell the others but it's all getting old I mean, how many more times must our stories be told? And being lonely's only fun in a group It sorta loses it's charm when it's true"

I imagine her talking to some other person from her group that agrees with her. She is saying that all this negative talk and lies is getting really old, she doesn't want to live this way anymore. She wants to know how many times people are going to try to get pity from others. She realizes that she really IS lonely, she isn't just saying so for attention anymore, and it doesn't seem so great anymore now that it is the truth.

"I meant it when I said "I wanna get well, I wanna get well" Are the rest of you so content? Then stay where you are, but it hurts like help And I'm sure it's fun at first Test your pulse and check your vitals If it's only a game, you lost me I quit it with the suicidal recital"

This is her talking to the group. She is saying that she is fed up with everything, she really is going to get help (like therapy), and she is asking them if they are okay with living this life that way and if they are to stay in that position but she is leaving the group to live a happier life. She's saying if it was only to get a cry for attention she lost the "game" because she has found all of those lies to be the truth (she is alone, negative and unhappy...she has become her lies for attention)

"So now you know all my secrets I want out, I know I don't need this Can you find me friends that don't rank me on what I've been through? The more our battle scars, the more attention it gets you"

Now the group knows the truth, that she doesn't want to be there anymore. She wants out of the group

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
