Who are these people in this picture frame
I used to know them so well
One looks like me
One looks like you
When did it change
What did we do

Oh, it's tearing at the heart of me
When I think of our love and how it used to be
All those walks in the park
Dances in the dark
Living in each other's arms
We can have it all back again
With just a little bit of giving in
Why won't you, why can't I
It's tearing at the heart of me

Where is the key for us to feel again
Love's been locked away so long
How can we stand here
Face to face
Watching forever fade away

Oh, it's tearing at the heart of me
When I think of our love and how it used to be
All those walks in the park
Dances in the dark
Living in each other's arms
We can have it all back again
With just a little bit of giving in
Why won't you, why can't I
It's tearing at the heart of me

Sometimes when the nights get long
I think I really should be gone
Then I remember the tenderness
And it keeps me hanging on

Oh, it's tearing at the heart of me
When I think of our love and how it used to be
All those walks in the park
Dances in the dark
Living in each other's arms
We can have it all back again
With just a little bit of giving in
Why won't you, why can't I
It's tearing at the heart of me

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
