Make A Move Lyrics

(Somebody make a move, somebody make a move, please somebody..)

Test my reality, check if there's a weak spot
Clinging to insanity in hopes the world will ease up
Try and make it look like it's all somehow getting better
'Cause I know how to play it pretty good 'gainst the measure
Everyone started out a little insane
But we learned pretty quick how to fake it for the game, but
Some of you never learned to drop the act
So under that skin of yours' a heart attack

CHORUS:
'Cause everybody's so scared, we don't wanna go there
We don't wanna make a move, we've got all our lives to lose
Screaming in the dark while we just play our part
I'll play right along, like I don't know what's going on
Somebody make a move, somebody make a move
Please somebody make a move
We all know, we all know what's going on

And if I had the answers, I'd have written them out
So I could tell you what to do and what this thing is about
But all I've ever learned's comes secondhand
And I dare not preach what I don't understand
You and I, we share the same disease
Cover up, compromise what we grieve
I've let more than my share of revivals die
This isn't pretty but it's what I am tonight

CHORUS

Pointing my fingers, the problems still linger
They keep getting bigger and I hold the trigger
Running with fire, I live like a liar
Please somebody make a move
Pointing my fingers (Somebody make a move)
The problems still linger (Somebody make a move)
Pointing my fingers (Somebody make a move, somebody)
Please somebody make a move
We all know, we all know what's going on

'Cause everybody's so scared, we don't wanna go there
We don't wanna make a move...
Screaming in the dark while we just play our part
I'll play right along...

CHORUS

Somebody make a move, somebody make a move
Please somebody make a move
We all know, we all know what's going on

It's obvious to me the band is railing at PEOPLE in general because the 1% own 95% of everything, and the 99% are too afraid to stand up as a group and say NO MORE. On top of that, the comfort levels of even the poor (bottom 40%) is acceptable to the point they don't want to rock the boat.

Everyone is so scared, they don't want to go there (FBI, CIA, IRS, DHS, FCC, TSA, NSA, all alphebet soup policing agencies of government....as well as corporations and their grubby hands in everything). We all got our lives to lose (everything we take for granted is only there because since we DON'T stand up TPTB haven't decided its time to take it away yet).

I'm pointing my fingers, the problems still linger (Example: Media points fingers, people point fingers, lay blame; nobody accepts responsibility...so it never gets better, and only gets worse).

I know it's easy to look at any song and make it political, but Ariel is quoted as saying "We're not trying to save the church, we're trying to save the world." Alot of bands and artists are doing just that...it's just that few of them get huge sponsoring because their lyrics and their goals do not coincide with corporate or powerful interests.

We rage in our heads and hearts because we know we should do something about it all, but instead we continue doing the same crap everyday: buy, consume, be quiet.

There are a few mistakes in the lyrics.

I'm not sure about the initial meaning of this song but I'll make a guess and hope it's the original idea behind the lyrics. In my opinion this song's about the behind-the-scene people. About being unsure on something and not having the gut to go ahead and find out what's going on yourself. Pretty common happening. Or perhaps being stuck at something because it's safe there. Altogether, it's obvious there's a problem but you can't bother to go and check because it's safe where you're at.

I really like the punk rock style of this song and the chorus is just as catchy as it could possibly get.

My Opinion

If you told me which specific lyrics were mistaken, perhaps I could change them.

Based on comments from the band, I think you're partly right, but it's more that we see horrible things happening in the world (Ariel gave the specific example of sex trafficking) and yet refuse to do anything about it because of our own sense of self-preservation. What makes this song for me (lyrically, anyway) is the second verse where she admits that she's guilty of the same crime and doesn't know all the answers either, so it's not just her preaching to others. I agree, the...

Okay, so I've listened to this song quite a few times and in my opinion she's talking about people not being who they truly are.

"Everyone started out a little insane, but we learn pretty quick how to fake it for the game"

Basically put, we all as little kids were crazy at once. Weird, not normal, but as we got older we put on a mask to make ourselves seem normal. Yes, there are so called freaks out there, but they're all being bullied and none of them are actually standing up to what's right. What's right is that we should all be allowed to be who or what we want to be without being judged.

"It isn't pretty, but it's what I am tonight."

She doesn't care about whether or not she's pretty. She's proud to call herself a freak because that's what she is. She is NOT the definition of normal. She's far from it.

"Everybody's so scared. We don't wanna go there"

We're all so comfortable with being similar that we're afraid to be different. We believe that if we're different then we'll get made fun of, but no one is testing that cuz we're all scared.

That's just how I see it.

@DarkAngelNia Pretty much exactly how I see it. We all act differently from our actual selves to fit better into society, but a lot of that is actually just unnecessary and noone should really be bothered by it - but because societies norms are set the way they are, people pretend to be bothered by it to themselves better fit into society.

Sounds like math class to me.

nobody wants to do anything about anything because everybody has something in it for them if they dont do it

This song talks about a lot. The first paragraph seems to talk about identity and belonging along with the lengths we go to to fit In. The song shows a person literally having a mental breakdown trying to sustain the persona they require to fit in. It goes on to say that everyone is different but we are often forced to act "normal" until we overcome this or it breaks us.

The second verse is about the issue of society's tendency to discourage people from thinking and acting for themselves outside their direct role. we always think that the job of fixing things should be left to "someone more qualified" rather than doing something ourselves and failing. Often ignoring the chance of our own success.

the third verse is about competetive nature of society with each success we achieve often being taken from someone else (jobs, money, fame, etc) and saying we should rather work together than try to climb over others to survive.

The final verse talks about people especially those in power often making a point of placing the blame yet not actually doing anything about it. With many government parties using important issues to simply reduce their oppositions standing than actually taking them seriously. Many of the large companies and organisations also try to shift the blame if they are found to be contributing to the problem.
