The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
Oh b-baby, don't you be so mad because I barely remember
And she tries to recognize me with the eyes she saw me with in December
And she's starting to realize that it's actually not a good thing
And it's so tough because you're down to go out again and have another adventure
All her friends in the alleyway shout back but she can't hear them
But you're never gonna get my love
We can only play in the sun
Get up in the morning and run
You'll be frustrated 'til the day that you're done
He got punched in the mouth for sticking his nose in other people's business
No good solution, always on the verge of some revolution
Well tough luck, it may take a thousand years, but I think we can do it
Best friends fight but they never enjoy life as good as when they abuse it
He said, "The soldier is a necessity in light of all the failures of man", yeah
But you're never gonna get their love
We can only fight in the sand
You get tired when the days are too long
You get lonely when the days are gone
He could never mention it out here and now
Without quick tears in his eyes, ooh
'Cause you're never gonna get my love
We can only play in the sun
You get tired when the days are too long
You get lonely when the days are gone
Oh, you're never gonna get this love
We can roll around in the dark
That's about as far as we go
Get up in the morning and run

'Cause you're never gonna get my love
We can only play in the sun
You get tired when the days are too long
You get lonely when the days are gone
Oh, you're never gonna get this love
We can roll around in the dark
That's about as far as we go
Get up in the morning and run

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
This is the lyric above: "He said the soldier is an assistant, they line up for the 50th of May."
well this is what I hear:
"He said the soldier is a necessity, in light of all the failures of man."
this to me makes a lot more sense to me...
Am I the only person that hears this song and thinks of killer queen?
Nope.
Few Corrections!!!!!
instead of "As she stands, I realise that it's actually not a good thing" it's - "and she's starting to realise that its actually not a good thing"
instead of "And it's so tough.." it's - "and now shes stuck..."
instead of "resolution" it's - "reVolution"
instead of "He said the soldier is an assistant, they line up for the 50th of May." it's- "he said 'the soldier is a necessity in light of all the failures of man'"
f**kin' great song, the strokes in their full form, thin lizzy's influence here, i love the way julian sing this song
This song reminds me of that Steely Dan song, 'Reelin' in the Years.' Just Jules' delivery on the verses.

This album is so solid I could talk about it all day.
I'm pretty damn sure the first line is "Oh Ba-baby don't ya be so mad because I barely remember"
This is what I heard for the first and second verses:
Oh b-baby, don't you be so mad because I barely remember And she tries to recognize me with the eyes she saw me with in December And she's starting to realize that it's actually not a good thing And it's so tough because you're down to go out again and have another adventure All her friends in the alleyway shout back, but she can't hear them
He got punched the mouth for sticking his nose in other people's business No good solution, always on the verge of some revolution With tough luck it may take a thousand years but I think we can do it Best friends fight, but they never enjoy life as good as when they abuse it
This song is amazing... Usually I like The Strokes for their guitar riffs but this has a very simple guitar and it's still great. I think this is their best album yet.
Isn't it "We can only play in the sand" instead of "blame the sun"? Like, we have fun together with this fling, but you'll never get my real love. You'll get too tired of me by then.
This is so classic.
Oh, ba-baby don't you be so mad because I barely remember, As she tries to recognise me with the eyes she saw me with in December. As she stands, I realise that it's actually not a good thing, And it's so tough because she dare not go, I'd have given 'em another adventure. All her friends in the alleyway shout back, She can't hear them.
But you're never gonna get my love, We can only play in the sun, Get up in the morning and run, You'll be frustrated til the day that you're done.
He got punched in the mouth for sticking his nose in other people's business, No good solution, always on the verge of some resolution. Well, tough luck! It may take a thousand years, but I think we can do it. Best friends fight, but they never enjoy life as good as when they abuse it. He said the soldier is an assistant, they line up for the 50th of May.
But you're never gonna get their love, We can only play in the sand, You get tired when the days are too long, You get lonely when the days are gone.
He could never mention it or hear it now without quick tears in his eyes (wooo!).
Cause you're never gonna get my love! We can only play in the sand. You get tired when the days are too long, You get lonely when the days are gone.
Oh, you're never gonna get this love! We can roll around in these arms, That's about as far as we go, Get up in the morning and run!
It should actually be "He said the soldier is a necessity in light of all of the failures of man." It's totally a great song, but does anyone else get the vibe that this is about war? Especially with hte references to playing in the sand, revolution, and it taking a thousand years?
