Lupe Fiasco for president
Amazing way to start off the album.. In my opinion, thee best song on the album.. I took it as him kind of "letting go" of his music self.. He feels like the World is against him, or his label is against him, and at the same time his fans were angry that his album wasn't dropping.. His label didn't like his original songs for LASERS cuz of the content, so they forced him to make some studio cuts instead.. He doesn't have full control of what he puts out anymore so he's like, why keep doing this, if it aint authentic.. At least that's what I thought..

Yea i completely agree. Definitely one of the highlights of the album for me. The beat works very well with the lyrics
I listened to this entire album on Saturday probably two or three times. Guess what else I was doing, LSD. If you really put all the lyrics together, I believe the inspiration of this CD is based on LASERS (vibes[me/you]). This is him beginning to feel the effects on him feeling as if he isn't completely here.
It was my first time dropping and overall, life changing experience for the better.
Edit. When you take LSD your whole life does really 'flash' before you, but its not in a visual sense but rather a feeling sense.

It says in the song "I don't get high, life keep me at a decent height." I'm not super informed about all the metaphors for different drugs, but that strikes me as saying he doesn't do them. Or do you mean in general and not specific to drugs?

I'm not sure if this is what he meant, but it's what I get out of it. I see it as more letting go of the image of self, the ego. For him, it probably has to do with his involvement in the music industry, but I feel like I can relate to it in a more general sense. It's sort of like stripping back the layers of the role or roles you're playing, and just getting to the source and seeing things without that filter of self image. I believe songs can have different layers of meanings, and this song definitely resonated with me in a deep way.
