I cannot see your eyes
Dragging abandoned ‘byes
Only earn more time
Stood on this crooked bridge
You throw a coin for a wish
Only answer mine
Only answer mine
Only answer mine

Take it away from me
Straight from this faded sleep
Empty the figurine
This island of rain is weak

Again I go unnoticed
Longing for now broken bliss
Only lay entwine
Just one cliché movie kiss
The first line I speak hardest
Only answer mine
Only answer mine

Take it away from me
Straight from this faded sleep
Empty the figurine
This island of rain is weak

Disguised mistakes
Goodbyes and fakes
‘Cause history is history

Take it away from me
Empty the figurine
This island of rain is weak
This island of rain is weak

Take it away from me
Straight from this faded sleep
Empty the figurine
This island of rain is weak
This island of rain is weak

    My Interpretation

Island Of Rain! - EPIC Song!! I actually love the whole song for Island of rain, all of the lyrics have meaning behind them.

'Disguided mistakes, goodbyes and fakes, cause history is history' are probably my favourite part of the song, Cause this brings back SOOOOO many memories, the last part is probably the bit I could explain in detail.

I like it because Roy sings, cause history is history, but there are some people who don't let go of the past, and mistakes will never be forgotten, but at the same time, your trying to forget everything, say goodbye to the fake person you used to be, and just be who you are. A few years ago, I changed for alot of people to make them happy, when In reality, It shouldn't of been me that changed for them. I have realised that people should accept you for who you are or not at all. It took me long enough to realise, but I got there in the end. And Now, I'm a reasonably happy person, hopefully just me, not a fake.. Ha Ha! I love love loveeeee this song.

Right So, Hey guys, It's Shelby Here. -We're updating My Forever's song meanings page, so I thought I'd come and update Island of Rain.

-Basically, my favourite part is still disguised mistakes, goodbyes and fakes, cause history is history. I think, out of the whole of the song, this is the bit i'm most attached to, because, to me it still means, it doesn't matter how much you hide something, even though it's in the past, there will still be some way of remembering your mistakes, and the goodbyes and fakes bit symbolizes the person holding on to the past, even though they are doing their best to forget. I like how Roy sings this verse too, It may just be me that sees this, but the emphasis in his voice really shows, when he sings?

However! ;) I also like 'You throw a coin for a wish, only answer mine' -I like how repetitive the only answer mine part is, but the message I get from it, is that it's okay to stand out? I know this is a weird interpretation, but you throw a coin for a wish, only answer mine, shows individuality within a person, because it shows how many people there are, but you are standing out, by saying this is me. 'Only answer mine' - i KNOW to people this will sound weird, but this is my interpretation to Island of Rain.

well. considering the context the rest of the song puts this passage in, i feel like this is a cry from Roy to someone else seeking the same answers as him (the "big truth about life/the universe"). because we all know how lonely it can be when you can't find another soul to comprehend the thoughts you have, or perhaps, in Roy's case, the answers he's searching for.

so to seriously dissect this: 1) he's asking what will become of him if he continues to search for that knowledge, because 2) he's finding it hard to give up the quest, regardless of the letdowns he has faced/may face. 3) when he speaks of straight from this faded sleep, i believe he's talking about all the ignorance in this world. how most people are oblivious and 'weak' to the great information Roy wishes to receive..the goal he's illustrated with this song is unknown to most but is has become an 'island of rain' creating solitude and 4) how alone this realization can make him feel. which, in turn, can 5) make one wonder if he's the only one, if he's missing what seems to continuously fill the brains of those other people, 'empty the figurine' content without the great status of achievement Roy's been searching for. 6) he describes that contentness with the analogy of sleeping peacefully with their dreams, and he's wondering if he's just missing his dream.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
