If I had one wish it'd be for you and all your friends that didn't like me
If I had one wish it'd be that we had danced more at that apocryphal wedding
If I sound angry, I'm sorry
This body can only cry for so long
And if you want to blame me, then go on
I'm smiling now 'cause I'm smarter than you think

I'm smarter than you
I'm smarter than you think

And I apologize for not telling you that my halo was cut from paper
Sliced from the fibers that made up all the parts that we were together
Even though I miss you, I'm thankful
Its obvious that this war was futile
So put your hands together and clap for
The painful choice you've made 'cause it's right

I'm smarter than you
I'm smarter than you think
I'm smarter than you
I'm smarter than you think

You are the narcissist
You're everything you saw in me
(Into the sea you fell
In love with the reflection of yourself)
You are the narcissist
You're everything you saw in me
(I felt the ocean's grip
I swam away to watch you drift)
You failed to see I'm smarter than you think
I'm smarter than you think

I'm smarter than you
I'm smarter than you think
I'm smarter than you
I'm smarter than you think

I'm smarter than you (I found out)
I'm smarter than you think (The hard way this time)
I'm smarter than you (We were right)
I'm smarter than you think (This was all wrong)

the first two lines pretty much give it away that this song is about sherri's ex-husband chad gilbert.

Love love love this song. I was a little unsure of some of the lyrics in parentheses but its pretty close if it isn't accurate.

Eisley just released this song and i can't stop listening.

it's definitely more rocky and her voice sounds like she really is angry and so emotional. it's amazing to listen to and you can almost hear how Sherri's feeling.

i can't wait for the record! i'm hoping to buy a red vinyl record before they're sold out too. just a couple more months! :D <3

and i love the bridge when Stacy is singing. it reminds me of the way they went back and forth in the bridge of "Memories"

anyways, this is probably having to do with Sherri's divorce as well. it's like she's definitely over being so heartbroken and now she's angry and frustrated. yet she's just happy she's out and she knows it was a good idea for her and she feels..smarter(:

You forgot Stacy's part at the end, between Sherri's "I'm smarter than you/I'm smarter than you think"

(I found out...) (The hard way this time...) (We were right...) (This was all wrong...)

Love this song. It's got a totally different feel than all of Eisley's previous ones...no fantastical imagery, and has an undertone of conflict, even anger.

Also it's "Into the sea you fell, in love with the reflection of yourself." I think. Sorry for all the posts. :\

I'm liking the Narcissus reference. For anyone who might not know that greek myth, basically he was a really good looking (but super arrogant) man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pond and stared at it until he died.

How does Eisley keep getting better? Every album I don't think they can improve much, then bam. It's done.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
