Comparing this to songs off Under My Skin makes me feel sad :(

Look at these lyrics... "Boy, I like messing in your bed". What... what the hell? What the Hell indeed Avril... Ok, looking away from the actual deprived shallow meaning, "messing in your bed" is a hilariously badly written lyric... What, does she like to eat doritos in bed? God. Looking at the ACTUAL meaning now, it's not much better. In fact, I'd prefer if she was speaking about some kind of habit of eating in bed.

Seeing an artist whose lyrics were once thoughtful, and something most people could relate to turn to this kind of mainstream pop garbage about being a run of the mill slut is really depressing. Singing about making out with a guy's friends, having meaningless sex, etc etc etc...

I am a sad panda :(

While you look at these lyrics, let me remind you of a little song called "Don't Tell Me". Think of those lyrics, then look at these. Shocking, innit?

Avril I Love your Old stuff. This is definately coming from the new you. Thats okay because you never disappoint me,it doesn't matter what other people think because its not about what people want to hear that you sing about its what your feeling in your lyrics. Don't change.. I like this song because it's about being good and holding back your innocence and one day you feel like living your life and doing what you want and not caring about what others think... That is what Avril is all about!!!

I love Avril's old stuff, but her new stuff shows the other side of her. There's nothing wrong with letting go and getting a little crazy. If you can't enjoy life, and you're living in the standard, then you're not living to the fullest. I may not have a fancy car, make a lot of money or have "high class" friends, but I can say this. I'm happy! I love myself, my life, my kids, my friends, and my family. I don't have a man because I don't need one, every man I've ever known has let me down so I stopped looking. I'm much happier being able to do what I want, when I want. I'm a fantastic mother and I know it...and neither of my little girls are going to grow up in the standard because quite frankly, the standard sucks, it's boring, and it's a pain in the ass.

Learn to let go and live out loud, that's the way life was meant to be...What the hell?

I think this song is great, and definitely a good song to just let loose to. To me the meaning is probably about a girl who obviously wants to "mess around", she's always met the good image, and had that goodie two shoes act...now she doesn't want to have that anymore. But, even though she's wanting to just break free and do her own thing, her boyfriend, or maybe just a clingy guy she's having a fling with isn't too thrilled about it.

^He's frustrated with everything she's doing..as in not being loyal. But all she can say is she can't help it, it's too much&no matter what love's gonna hurt.

^He wants her to stay with him, but she can't. As she said before she's having too much fun.&needs to have this fun.

^She hasn't ever done to boys what she's doing to him. (cheating, fooling around with other guys, and just not caring.) Even if he still loves her, or hates her he can't change how she's acting.

^She should be allowed to do what she pleases. Why should it matter to him..he didn't seem to care or pay attention before this.

^She admits that she is messing with his head. She still fools around with him, and leads him to believe she wants him. But then she goes and gets with other guys.

She was in a relationship for so long and was a good girl aka never cheated and now that's she's free, she's having fun. She met a guy who is ready for a relationship and is really into her but she's just looking to date around and fun. "what the hell?!" means...are you freaking kidding me?! He's begging for her to settle down and she's like I was in a relationship for so long and now it's my turn to have fun... stop acting like a little girl!

Basically just a bratty feel good 'I'll do as I please' anthem.

I think the sentiment is basically 'what the hell? you only live once'.

Shes talking about cheating and sex!

Boy, does this song remind me of my mum or what?! She's been with a few crappy guys throughout her life (my dad and ex-stepdad included.) She's currently in a big fight with her ex that's been going on for about two years. But she doesn't care about him at all now. All she cares about is having a good time with her new boyfriend who's nice as hell! :D

So, that's what it means to me. My mum's put up with all her boyfriend's bull but now she's fighting back and doing what she wants to do!
