Don't get me started on what it means to be alive
You're lying to yourself, but then still you act surprised
'Cause you're scared, can't come to terms with what you are
The wolves in sheep's clothing will only lead you so far

You'll wait and they'll go
'Cause in the end, we all end up alone
So just wait, you'll know

Forget everything just for tonight, we'll
Sing like everyone when they're alone
'Cause I've been waiting for the night to say whoa, whoa

I rely on myself, just making sure that was clear
I'm not in need of your crutches, I faced all my fears
And I won what I knew I could have
Life is not a punch card, make the best of what you have

And don't wait, just go
And when you find yourself, please let me know
(It's not too late) just let go

Forget everything just for tonight, we'll
Sing like everyone when they're alone
'Cause I've been waiting for the night to say whoa, whoa
Let's believe that if we all stand together
We're a force that could shake the whole world
For once, I'm doin' something right when we say whoa, whoa

In the end, it's not about what you have
In the end, it's all about where you wanna go
And the roads you take to help you get there
I hope you think that's fair
'Cause you only got one life to lead
So don't take for granted those little things
Those little things are all that we have

Forget everything just for tonight, we'll
Sing like everyone when they're alone
'Cause I've been waiting for the night to say whoa, whoa
Let's believe that if we all stand together
We're a force that could shake the whole world
For once, I'm doin' something right when we say whoa, whoa

We'll sing (whoa, whoa)
(Whoa, whoa) can't forget everything
'Cause I've been waiting for the night to say whoa, whoa

    Song Meaning

Jeremy said it himself in the A Day to Remember Blank TV Interview, at 6:18, what the song is about, quoting him:

“That song is just about the…I don’t know, man, it’s like it’s about music in general, like the feeling like, no matter what’s going on in your life, like at least for me, like, music is something that makes me feel better about what’s going on with me. Like, I could have the crappiest week, the crappiest month, the crappiest year and I could go see a band that I really enjoy play some songs that really meant something to me and it just takes all that away. It’s about being at a show and, you know, and getting that feeling, like, you know, this is exactly where I’m supposed to be, this is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing with my life and I feel better.”

It's "let's believe that if we all stand together" not "let's move in"

I think the song as a whole is about appreciating what you have in your life. Stay true to yourself and do what you are passionate about.

As far as I can tell, it's about going to a show, gig or festival, and just feeling like you belong there.

The whole, 'The wolf in sheep's clothing will only lead you so far away' seems to me as though you're the wolf, and that you're trying to follow a crowd that you really don't feel comfortable with.

'Let's believe that if we all stand together, we're a force that can shake the whole world' kinda gives off the idea that, sure, you might not belong, but at this show there're people who feel just the way you do.

The whole 'For once I'm doing something right, when we sing WHOA! WHOA!' is just a huge fuck off to the people that take the piss out of you for being different, or into bands that are as awesome as A Day To Remember which all the popstar wannabes see as some emo band.

But yeah, I'm probably completely wrong..

    My Interpretation

"Don't get me started on what it means to be alive you're lying to yourself if you sound and act surprised could you stand become the source of what you are the wolves in sheep's clothing will only lead so far so find your way and you'll go cause in the end we all end up alone so just wait you'll know"

I think that's about people who act content with their lives and their friends, but the bottom line is that if they put any thought into it, they really aren't happy, they just stay so busy (getting fucked up everynight could be a good example) that they don't realize how shitty their lives are. Also that their friends wouldn't really be there in the end if it came down to it "in the end we all end up alone so just wait you'll know".

"I rely on myself just making sure that was clear I'm not in need of your crutches I face all my face fears and I want what I knew I could have life is not a monster make the best of what you have"

I think that's about people who are afraid of living their own lives and supporting themselves, thinking that it's easier to rely on other people than to just do things themselves. Or crutches might refer to people who can't cope with reality, so they use drugs and alcohol to cope. "Life is not a monster, make the best of what you have" could refer to how people think life is shitty so they rely on drugs and alcohol.

So ultimately, I think my interpretation of this song would be that it's about relying on things other than yourself, whether you're relying on other people, drugs, alcohol or any other thing that helps you cheat life.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
