And hey darling, I hope you're good tonight
And I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving
Yeah, I want it, but no, I don't need it
Tell me something sweet to get me by
'Cause I can't come back home 'til they're singin'

La, la la la, la la la
'Til everyone is singin'

If you can wait 'til I get home (I get home)
Then I swear to you that we can make this last
La, la
If you can wait 'til I get home (I get home)
Then I swear, come tomorrow, this will all be in our past
Well, it might be for the best

And hey sweetie, well, I need you here tonight
And I know that you don't wanna be leaving
Yeah, you want it, but I can't help it
I just feel complete when you're by my side
But I know you can't come home 'til they're singin'

La, la la la, la la la
'Til everyone is singin'
La, la la la, la la la

If you can wait 'til I get home (I get home)
Then I swear to you that we can make this last
La, la
If you can wait 'til I get home (I get home)
Then I swear, come tomorrow, this will all be in our past
Well, it might be for the best

You know you can't give me what I need
And even though you mean so much to me
I can wait through everything
Is this really happening?
I swear I'll never be happy again
And don't you dare say we can just be friends
I'm not some boy that you can sway
We knew it'd happen eventually

La, la la la, la la la
Now everybody's singin'
La, la la la, la la la
Now everybody's singin'
La, la la la, la la la (if you can wait 'til I get home)
Now everybody's singin'
La, la la la, la la la (then I swear we can make this last)
Now everybody's singin'

La, la la la, la la la
(If you can wait 'til I get home)
Now everybody's singin'
La, la la la, la la la
(Then I swear we can make this last)
Now everybody's singin', la

I think this can applied towards any relationship. (That's actually one thing I love about ADTR. Their songs allow you to drift and think of your own meaning for the song.) This can be someone in the military, away at school, traveling for a job, touring (in this case), etc...

"I know you can’t give me what I need And even though you mean so much to me I can't wait through everything"

I think this means that she is going to move on, even though, she really just wants to be with him.

    "Is this really happening?"

And this Jeremy saying, "Come on? Just stay with me... Do you know what this will do to me?"

"I swear I’ll never be happy again And don’t you dare say we can just be friends I’m not some boy that you can sway We knew it’d happen eventually"

And this is Jeremy saying, "Ok fine, do what you want. Just know I'm not going to be around anymore if you follow through with this."

    My Interpretation

Pretty straightforward song. Here's my (kinda detailed) view on it:

"Hey darling, I hope you're good tonight And I know you don't feel right when I'm leaving Yeah, I want it, but no, I don't need it Tell me something sweet to get me by" The guy is probably in a band and is leaving his girlfriend to go on tour maybe?

"'Cause I can't come back home 'til they're singing La, la la la, la la la 'Til everyone is singing" He won't come back until his band is succesful and their fans are singing for them.

"If you can wait 'til I get home Then I swear to you that we can make this last If you can wait 'til I get home Then I swear come tomorrow this will all be in our past Well it might be for the best" Pretty obvious. As soon as the guy makes it with his band, he's gonna get with her. lol

"Hey sweetie, I need you here tonight And I know that you don't want to be leaving me Yeah, you want it, but I can't help that I just feel complete when you're by my side But I know you can't come home 'til they're singing La, la la la, la la la 'Til everyone is singing La, la la la, la la la" The girl telling him how she feels about the whole thing. Seems that right now she's kinda okay with him leaving.

"I know you can't give me what I need And even though you mean so much to me I can't wait through everything" Eventually, the girl is fed up with all that.

"Is this really happening? I swear I'll never be happy again And don't you dare say we can just be friends I'm not some boy that you can sway" Guy is desperate, kinda tries to convince her to stay with him.

"We knew it'd happen eventually" Still they both knew it would end this way.

And in the end, when the crowd is singing, that means he finally made it with his band but it's over between them. and stuff. :3

I probably feel this way simply because it applies to my life, but it reminds me of going off to college. You leave behind the one special person, swearing you will be back soon and often. However, as time goes on, coming home isn't as simple as you thought it would be. It sounds to me like she is saying I can't continue to watch you leave, and I can't continue to dream of you being here next to me.

It feels like a few days after a huge fight and the night before he's coming home when she suddenly realized she can't do this any more. Life is taking them in two separate directions, no matter how badly they just want to be together. He swears he can't go on without her and realizes they could never just be friends, but she has herself to take care of and enough faith in him to know that he will be okay.

The truth of it is, they both knew when he went off, it wouldn't work. It hardly ever does. I think the end is saying "We've done what's right, and in some crazy, messed up way, it's brought harmony back into our lives and the lives of everyone we know."

Damn, I was just about to post this lyric too... Beat me to it... This song features Sierra Kusterbeck of VersaEmerge.

To me this song's another one about touring. Girlfriend back home, can't take the touring lifestyle of her boyfriend, Breaks up with him etc.

this song was able to keep me and my girlfriend together because it made us realize that our relationship was important. And i'm still with her! that's the best part.

I love this song! :) I really think this could just be about a long-distance relationship and it's hard for them. Either long-distance, a band touring, or even the armed forces.

"‘Cause I can’t come back home ‘til they’re singing La, la la la, la la la" Obviously he can't come back home till his band has made it.

The whole song he's asking her to wait for him, and she says "I can't wait through everything"

The song ends with "Now everybody's singing La." Symbolising that he's come home, because he couldn't come home until everyone was singing La.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Led Zeppelin
This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
