Even though this song is about a relationship. I relate it to the situation with my mom and myself right now. I just told her I'm gay, but she doesn't realize how much she's really hurting me.

I can't really imagine this song being about anything other than a parent/child relationship. It's so true for me. I love my mom, and I know she tries in her own way, but I see other parents...and it's just different. I'm older now and can't blame her for all my problems. Comparing this song to my life... I'm in love with one of my teachers, but of course she doesn't know it and it hurts me so much that she'll never look at me as a person, but only as a student, and she'll never smile to me for anything else than a good mark...
