[THE MIST - Instrumental]

[WASHED AWAY]

All alone in the silence of the morning
Wake to find there's nothing there
that's worth living for, that's worth dying for
Either way you don't care
Loss of interest in the things that once drove you
to a place where you could see
There's things worth living for,
there's things worth dying for
They're things that set you free

You've fallen prey to the darkness all around you,
felt it wash away all that you are
And in the fallout you sense a new beginning,
but you can't find the will and don't have the heart

And you feel you're falling
And you know you're drowning
And your chance is fading
And your strength is failing

Sorrow, washed away in anger
Washed away in desperation all alone
Sadness, washed away in waking
Washed away in finding a way you can cope
With the things you must face
With the endless rat race
With the trial of today
With the things that they say
You don't need them - you can find a better way

Sleep the day away, it's the easy way
Too much pain today, too much apathy
When your feelings are desperate,
your thoughts become dangerous
When your thoughts put you in duress,
what's left for you is to bear it
Written on your face is nothing but a trace
of where your pain is born, of why your mind is torn

Swaying on the edge of a knife
to the brink of insanity, to the ruin of reality
Your perception of your life
has warped what's going on
What's here you think is gone
What's here you think is gone
Is there belief, is there relief?
When the nightmare has begun,
will your mind reach for the gun,
or is there strength inside your soul
to give you back control?
Only you could know
Only you could know

And you feel you're falling
And you know you're drowning
And your chance is fading
And your faith is failing

Sorrow, washed away in anger
Washed away in desperation all alone
Sadness, washed away in waking
Washed away in finding a way you can cope
With the things you must face
With the endless rat race
With the trial of today
With the things that they say
You don't need them - you can find a better way

[SILENT SUFFERING]

Step outside into a world with so many people
Understand that life can be deceiving
Live in hope that you can cope for another day
Understand that giving is receiving

They say, oh, I can feel the waves roll in
as time begins to slip right through my fingers
The silent suffering's all around you
It burns your soul as it surrounds you
It leaves a hole when it has bound you
It rides the waves in hope to drown you

Step inside and see a world without any people
Understand that this is not who you are
Live in trust that life's not just fearing your future
Understand that alone you've come this far

They say, oh, I can feel the waves roll in
as time begins to slip right through my fingers
The silent suffering's all around you
It takes its place as it surrounds you
It hides its face from those who found you
It rides the waves in hope to drown you

They say I want to reach another shore
I understand there's so much more
They know inside their minds the battles rage
while placed upon life's empty stage

Find out why the suffering hides
and why each breath is filled with need
Presence of mind to reach inside
and find out why old wounds still bleed

They say, oh, I can feel new life begin
as hope has found a grip within my fingers
The silent suffering's all around you
It burns your soul as it surrounds you
It takes its toll when it has bound you
It rides the waves in hope to drown you
Don't let it drown you
Don't let it drown you!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
