The Boy Who Could Fly Lyrics

Freeze, it's time to take you home
it feels so early but I promised I would bring you to your door
now our lips are numb as we walk sharing warm alcohol
that kiss tastes like summer
I hope you like the stars I stole for you
one hundred million twinkle lights in neon blue
I'll be the brightest someday, I'll be the brightest you'll see
don't rain on my parade
it's gonna glow in the dark
I like it better when you can't keep warm
don't ruin a perfect thing
the boy on the blue moon dreams of sun
now as the rain falls like shattered pieces of glass from the sky
we bleed like water colors and drunken pastels down the stairways
and I ask myself, why do I still pray
when will it end
and who fucking cares
I swear to God I did what I could
I practically begged you
I pretended everything was fine
a soul sacrifice, an American nightmare
I'd rather be dead
don't rain on my parade
it's gonna glow in the dark
I like it better when you can't keep warm
don't ruin a perfect thing
the boy on the blue moon hears a nightmare in his head
I'll bet you money as you're running to the bathroom
you barely started drinking but your beauty never stopped you
you died in California by the sulfur and the sea
I guess I never should have loved you
but I do forever because you loved me
and I break my glasses as I fall in the street
if you were gonna leave this world how could it be without me
now it's all over my tongue and still it has no taste
because without you there is no me
there's no me at all
sometimes love dies like a dog
so why don't we just let this one take care of itself
don't rain on my parade
it's gonna glow in the dark
I like it better when you can't keep warm
don't ruin a perfect thing
the boy on the blue moon dreams
I'm losing a perfect thing

There's a movie called "The Boy Who Could Fly" is about an autistic boy who changes the life a the girl next door, who ends up falling in love with him. I don't know what it has to do with the song, but it's definitely interesting.

"The lyrics talk about an unhealthy co-dependent relationship in which I couldn’t live without the other person because if you took her away, I would lose half of myself. It’s about obsession and desperation, and the stupid things you do when you’re in love." -vic himselff.

to me, I think this song is about not only a girl vic was romantically involved with but also about the girl having an eating disorder.

"don't ruin a perfect thing" could mean he's telling the girl over and over that she's fine the way she is, she's perfect, stop hurting herself because she's beautiful already ("I swear to god I did what I could, I practically begged you, everything was fine.") "Everything was fine" could refer (again) to him trying to tell her she's beautiful as she is.

"I'll bet you money as you're running to the bathroom, you barely started drinking but your beauty never stopped you" could mean in a literal sense that she was drinking but she's bulimic and she goes to purge the alcohol (I don't really think she got sick because of the alcohol itself, because she "barely started drinking" and I think vic purposely said that to show that the vomiting wasn't because of alcohol)

"you died in california by the sulfur and the sea" means just that, she died, and it could've been from suicide or from her eating disorder (because the medical complications from eating disorders are really serious). also, a side note, of all the people with eating disorders who die, 50% of those deaths are suicide and not medical. (at least, I think it's 50%, don't quote me directly. the point is the number is really high.)

so yeah, I like to interpret this song as someone vic was romantically involved with who had an eating disorder and died, and it was really painful for him during and after the relationship because she kept hurting herself until she died and he can never quite get over it because he loved her, and she loved him back.

it's amazing :) i'm so excited for the new cd. i guess in my opinion it's about a girl whom the writer (vic) was romantically involved, but lost her ("i'm losing a perfect thing") but he still wants to get her back because he still loves her, even if she doesn't love him ("i guess i never should have loved you but i do forever because you loved me"). i could be wrong, but i've gone through something way similar to what i described so it works for me :P

I agree with you up the point where a boy was romantically evolved with the girl described in the song. What I'm interpreting beyond that, was the girl was self-destructive and anorexic/bullimic as evidenced by:

"I'll bet you money as you're running to the bathroom, You barely started drinking but your beauty never stopped you."

Since you can't necessarily puke from a few drinks, it's to be assumed she went to do it for other reasons; bullimia.

If you take that into consideration, the rest of the verses and chorus makes sense and fit with it. He...

ah that's really interesting! :) i never even thought of that! and it completely makes sense. especially because the "your beauty never stopped you" part.. i mean, in today's society, with the media and all saying that to possess "beauty" a girl must be a freaking size zero... but that's a whole different conversation, ahha XD but i can totally see where you got that from, and the whole "I'll bet you money as you're running to the bathroom/you barely started drinking but your beauty never stopped you" part confused me before, but it makes sense with your interpretation. thanks!...

Mannn, I fell asleep to this song not to long ago, and I had a INTENSEE dream...But I'm not gonna tell it xD

Well, I'm not exactly sure what the meaning of this song is...but it is pretty intense. It puts a really deep image in my mind. Especially "I'll bet your money as you run into the bathroom, you barely started drinking but your beauty never stopped you."

This WHOLE song puts a deep intense image in my head. I guess thats why I had a dream bout it.

A situation like this happened to me, I loved a girl, she said she "loved" me. I believed her. I feel like this song was written for me ;D.

We know clearly that this song is about a dependent relationship between a boy and a girl. For me its more about how the boy needs the girl to be there for him. She is oblivious to his feelings. And later he over compensates for lack of relationship.

The boy will go to any length to keep her and tell her that he loves her "I hope you like the stars I stole for you" The boy wants her to realise that to him she is the stars, she is his way out of the dark and to him she is beautiful - "It's gonna glow in the dark". "stars" - He compares her to something not everyone will be close to and he will never touch or be close to.

Not only this but the boy also hopes to be her light in the dark. He believes that he isn't good enough for her but needs her to realise that he could be - "I'll be the brightest someday, I'll be the brightest you'll see"

"the boy on the blue moon hears a nightmare in his head" are my favorite pierce the veil lyrics. It can tell us that he thinks the worst and can't control it, he doesn't see the outcome all he can only hear his own uncontrollable thoughts. I don't think this bit relates to the girl as much as everyone thinks. For me he too is suicidal and dependent on someone to tell him he is loved, but he gets drunk with the thought of wanting to be loved by this girl he switches the scenario of him killing himself to her and how destrote he would be. At this point he is again in the dark as his light is absent. The boy thinks that the girl is his saviour but really he is hers but never could be fully because she didn't realize how much he loved her.

My most favorite song

Well, i absouluty loveee Pierce the Veil & i likeee listenn to this songg 24/7 , but yea what people are sayinng up theree is making sense , causee shes is to wrapped up into herself , & cares to much about her appearence , & weight . That is making his dreams like get ruined cause shes depressed about herself . So pretty much hes saying " I guess I never should have loved you but I do forever because you loved me " he loves her even through all the shit the girl has putting him through . & alsooo , " I swear to God I did what I could I practically begged you I pretended everything was fine " He attempted to helpp herr , & other stuff . So this song is pretty much about a girl worrying about the little things , & her boyfriend begging her to stop & he loved her through all . & the terrible lost of her cause she died <3 . My god this song makes me cry , i always dream of me & my bestfriend Patrick going through this <3 .
