i'm generally not a huge Drake fan. but i've had this on repeat for 3 days straight. there's something about it that just gets me.

i think he's talking about ahh girl who is outrageous nd doesn't realize she's doing wrong. He's thinking to himself that of course she's not on the same page as him because Drakes like falling head over heels over this girl yet she doesn't feel the same. But he says go ahead "live girl" "have fun girl". He starts to try nd dismiss these thoughts nd convince himself he's found the right one. Then he realizes he is always falling for girls like this one nd it's unexplainable because he appearently keeps getting with girls like her.

My interpretation is that the girl in question is a wild child (like myself), who has alot of past that he is trying to ignore because truthfully everyone has a past and that is not the deciding factor of your future (you can change) and he wants her to be changed. Yet so many things are still exhibiting signs of her wild ways... Hence "...and that champagne you been sippin' not supposed to make you different all the time..." I take that as she gets a little too tipsy often and acts out while drunk (maybe arguing, or not being as lady like as she should in multiple ways). Then goes on to say "but live girl have some fun girl we'll be fine" I take that as him again trying to push everything off as if it's cool and matters not maybe trying to show her that he will not leave her for these things that others are so critical about? Drake says in his rap (Jamie Foxx version) "dress hangin' off your shoulder barely sober telling me how your'e moving away and starting over girl quit playin you just drunk" which I think cosigns to my interpretation of that part and he also says "oh you dance how like ballet and shit oh, no I get it girl I'm wit it" which means to me that she is or has been a stripper and he is trying to be really cool about everything again hoping and kinda needing that change from her that he knows she can make. He must see alot of good in her beyond the drinking and whatever else. It is very deep to me, like I get it completely though I must say I think we all form our own interpretations of songs. Please comment for me, I love corrective criticism and I like to know if I'm right!

i love this song. I think the girl in Drake's verse alludes to being a stripper, but I think the song has a more general meaning. I feel like Drake/Jamie Foxx continue to start relationships with "wild child" or party girls, girls with questionable track records and maybe promiscuous pasts, girls that either don't want to or for some reason can't settle down or have a healthy relationship. Drake and Jamie Foxx want something more deep down, a deeper fulfillment from a relationship, but they keep getting into ones with girls that seem like female "players" or strippers that end relatively quickly or badly with too much attachment or unrequited hope for change from Drake/Jamie. You would think after the first few relationships like that, they would learn to avoid girls who look or act or talk the way the previous ones did, but we've all been in the situation where we tell ourselves things to fool ourselves into thinking this time will be different, and sometimes we are genuinely fooled. The most beautiful and realistic part about this song is that it's not a song about "I've been down that road so I'm not going back," it's a far more realistic and human version about knowing deep down that you know better and should avoid it, but you still do it anyway. It doesn't attempt to answer why we do it anyway, because who knows? That's what the song is about: "tell me why" and "I swear," not "this is why" and "I understand." So beautiful and so true to my life! great song
