Delirium Lyrics

There's a stain, there's a stain, there's a stain on the floor
I wanna soak, wanna scrub, wanna clean it, and more
But all the nurses are refusing to let me out of bed
And my eyes are pouring nightly

There's a crowd, there's a crowd, there's a crowd on my ward
All full of joy, full of glee, jubilation and more
These crazy stupid mother fuckers never leave me alone
And my lungs are wheezing slightly

There's a buzz, there's a buzz, there's a buzzing of bugs
From flower beetles, yellow jackets, silverfishes to slugs
It's always raining caterpillars from the circular fan
And my heart is pounding brightly

I swim in pharmaceuticals
I swim in pharmaceuticals
The medicine deactivates the things I take
I swim in pharmaceuticals
I swim in pharmaceuticals
The medicine deactivates the things I take

There's a voice, there's a voice, there's a voice in my head
It's rather soothing and it tells me I'd be better off dead
But if I beat maybe punch it even kick it away
Then everything will be all rightly

I swim in pharmaceuticals
I swim in pharmaceuticals
The medicine deactivates the things I take
I swim in pharmaceuticals
I swim in pharmaceuticals
The medicine deactivates

I didn't know it was hot in the middle
I touched it once then I touched it a second time
'Cause I am that naive
A myriad of bright ideas
I didn't know I'd get caught in the middle
I touched it once and I touched it a second time
'Cause I am that naive
A myriad of bright ideas

I swim in pharmaceuticals
I swim in pharmaceuticals
The medicine deactivates the things I take
I swim in pharmaceuticals
I swim in pharmaceuticals
The medicine deactivates

I didn't know it was hot in the middle
I touched it once then I touched it a second time
'Cause I am that naive
A myriad of bright ideas
I didn't know I'd get caught in the middle
I touched it once then I touched it a second time
'Cause I am that naive
A myriad of bright ideas

I cant help but thing of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey when I hear this song.

The song is from the point of view of someone who is institutionalized and maybe has OCD, seeing how the NEED to clean up this mess. This medication sedates the person and makes these voices and needs go away.

"I didn't know it was hot in the middle I touched it once then I touched it a second time 'Cause I am that naive"

These are probably my favorite lines and could mean so much to different people, but in this context I think it has something to do with always coming back to this "madness" or the point of break for this person. It's always falling into the same thing, over and over, and maybe not learning from it, or forgetting the consequences (due to medication).

My Opinion

This is my second favorite song from MDL, so far. It's really the bouncy chorus that makes me want to sing this, over and over again, even though it's really about something pretty awful. I can't wait until the CD is out! :D!

These boys are amazing.

from lyric book: (corrections bolded)

There's a stain, there's a stain, there's a stain on the floor. I wanna soak, wanna scrub, wanna clean it, and more.

There's a crowd, there's a crowd, there's a crowd on my ward, All full of joy, full of glee, jubilation and more.

and yes, the "everything will be all rightly" is correct =)

your booklet has lyrics? mine is just artwork. did you get the deluxe version or something?

My CD booklet only has artwork- just like yours... BUT, I got the Smartpunk bundle that came with the CD, a poster-calendar, AND a lyric booklet... and it was the same price as the CD alone in the "official" pre-order :)

oh cool. i'm kinda pissed i missed out on that. haha.

no one ever told me that all my paranoid thoughts were normal till i fucking turned 16. till then mcs had been the only people who knew what i was going through. they helped so goddamn much and they so make me not geek so awful for taking pills cause i don't wanna be the crazy chick, no one does, but they helped me not let it all go to my head. and the world feels so much prettier when i know i'm not alone.

For some reason my favorite line is "There's a voice, there's a voice, there's a voice in my head, it's rather soothing and it tells me I'd be better off dead." Am I crazy because I like the schizophrenic line of the song...

I think the song is about being clinically insane and becoming adicted to the meds that are supposed to help you (when they are really making you crazier)
