When I hear your name, I break down and cry
Only inside, a piece of me dies
I cry tears of joy, I cry tears of pain
I suffer like your name but tell me, what's your name?
Lightly falling snow, the whimpers that he throw
All out of my control, the one thing that I know
A breath against the glass, I'm nothing but a child
Left awhile, we'll face complete of the smell

Any time and any place
I feel you next to my heart
I'll lose my mind before I forget your face
And my soul still knows your name

The perfect time arrives for me to see your eyes
Deceived in my black lies but don't you despise
But I lost my nerve and I lost my will
My heart feels busted, still and I said I didn't care
The fear in my heart, you will remain

Still and alone, oh
Still and alone
Still and alone
Still and alone

Any time and any place
I feel you next to my heart
I'll lose my mind before I forget your face
And my soul still knows your name

The perfect time arrives for me to see your eyes
Deceived in my black lies but can't you despise
But I lost my nerve and I lost my will
My heart feels busted, still and I said I didn't care
The fear in my heart, you will remain

Still and alone, oh
Still and alone
Still and alone
Still and alone, oh

And any time and any place
I feel you next to my heart
I'll lose my mind before I forget your face
And my soul still knows your name

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
