I am done pretending
You have failed to find what's left
I will suck you dry again
Some are not worth saving
You are such a pretty mess
I will choke the life within

Now you want to take me down
As if I even care
I am the monster in your head
And I thought you'd learn by now
It seems you haven't yet
I am the venom in your skin
And now your life is broken

After the lights go out on you
After your worthless life is through
I will remember how you scream
I can't afford to care
I can't afford to care

I am suffocating
You have failed to pull me in
I will drag you down again
Life is unrelenting
Feeding lies into my head
I will feed the lies you live

Now you want to take me down
As if I even care
I am the monster in your head
And I thought you'd learn by now
It seems you haven't yet
I am the venom in your skin
And now your life is broken

After the lights go out on you
After your worthless life is through
I will remember how you scream
I can't afford to care
I can't afford to care

After the lights go out on you
After your worthless life is through
I will remember how you scream
I can't afford to care
I can't afford to care
I can't afford to care
I can't afford to care

This is kinda nerdy, but this song reminds me of Spider-Man's symbiote suit, and not just because of the line "I am the Venom in your skin," haha.

The whole thing has this creepy eerie vibe, like the singer is just hiding beyond the surface, puppet-mastering the person he's singing about, trying to get them to do wrong ("Some are not worth saving") and every time the person resists, this force just fights against him or her, and the song is about how it will continue to do so until it drains the person dry, and move on to someone else, kinda like the Venom symbiote thing.

Less comic-bookey, the force could be significant of that impersonal, 'kill or be killed' mentality, that wants nothing more than to be better than everyone else, to make the most money, to get the best girl, whatever, that sort of "it's just business" attitude that can drain your soul if you get too caught up in it. I don't know, I'm just ranting.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
