Crossing Over Lyrics
All perched alone he sits there broken
An elder man with storm clouds setting in his eyes
He counts the sands of time, remember days gone by
It seemed like yesterday, before it washed away
Don't wait for me there
Just find you're own way
Don't wait for me there
Cause i'll be there soon enough
The widow's life ticks up like clock work
A thousand tears she cried a hundred times before
But now that he is gone, she's ready to move on
It all just fell away, it seems like yesterday
Don't wait for me there
Just find you're own way
Don't wait for me there
Cause i'll be there soon enough
I'll be there soon enough
Don't wait for me there
Just find you're own way
Don't wait for me there
Cause i'll be there soon enough
An elder man with storm clouds setting in his eyes
He counts the sands of time, remember days gone by
It seemed like yesterday, before it washed away
Just find you're own way
Don't wait for me there
Cause i'll be there soon enough
A thousand tears she cried a hundred times before
But now that he is gone, she's ready to move on
It all just fell away, it seems like yesterday
Just find you're own way
Don't wait for me there
Cause i'll be there soon enough
I'll be there soon enough
Just find you're own way
Don't wait for me there
Cause i'll be there soon enough

you are all wrong. alot of the songs on this cd are about soliders and the war.
this song is about a soldier and a widow..not a man in jail.
how does it refer to soldiers?the song says an elder man.meaning he's old.i think it's obviously about a guy who is about to crossover.i don't think it's cuz he's sick or anything, just his time.he's telling his wife don't wait for him there cuz he'll be there shortly.pretty straight forward song
wow, even you said its simple and you're way off... its about having lived life and being ready to die because there is nothing left for you
I agree with ranley45 on the war part, but I think it's him and everyone back home, telling them that they shouldn't wait for him because he'll be back.
In the end, no one is wrong when it comes to their interpretation of a song. "To each his own". To me, I think the song is about a soldier off on duty who leaves behind a wife(or girlfriend) back home. At some point he dies and the wife(or girlfriend) moves on. The soldier hopes that she doesn't sulk in the loss of a loved one and wishes her to move on. Sad song...
Why is this so hard? I think that the most convincing meaning is to not waste the rest of your life mourning over broken dreams or a lost loved one. They wouldn't want you to die alone and depressed, hence the Chorus (most likely speaking from 'heaven'): "Hey, don't wait for me there Just find your own way" - basically saying come to heaven with me your own way, not by mourning me. Then I THINK that the second part is the mourner speaking back, saying "ill be there soon enough" maybe one of you can help me with that part :) This song CAN be about war, but it isnt specifically. fmunoz, it cant be urs because the second verse says a widow, so that means he died in battle. The overall meaning is what i stated above. i just lost my grandma so this fits well right now
Guitarist Zoltan Bathory (from Metal Hammer): "Lyrically, it's one of my favourites, a very dark song — not a full-on ballad, not a pretty composition, and with quite a simple structure, which again we worked hard to achieve. At one point, the song was a bit more complex in nature, but when we heard how great Ivan [Moody]'s lyrics were, we knew we had to simple things down so as not to distract the listener, to allow the weight of the words to come through. There's also a really blazing solo from Jason — there's some pretty abrasive playing there, and that helps to give the song a more aggressive overall feel."
This one's
This one's quite simple. Dont waste your life trying to be someone else.
yeah... from the title of the song and the lyrics, its pretty obvious this song is about death, and meeting up in heaven with your significant other.
