so regardless of wether the song is about being gay or straight, it is obviously about being different, and not conforming to society therefore going to 'hell' many people (including myself) can definitely interpret this as a song about being gay, because of the way we are treated, and the different warped views of society. by all means this is an amazing song. Besides if it is about being gay, then why would he use the word 'she' in the line 'It's 11:57 she tastes so sweet' and not 'he'?

I reckon that "werewolf" is actually meaning "lover" because if you swapped the words it would make more sense. Like, the singer could be telling the listener how they live in a world where it isn't normal to love someone; hence the "We're entwined, and helpless".

And it just sprung into my mind, that "werewolf" is used instead of "lover" because if love is something that isn't looked at normally, then they would be seen as weird or different and strange.

This song is fucking amazing. Shaun is a really sexy singer. ;)

I think what he's trying to say is that even though they have nothing, and they're helpless and young in love, that he would do anything or be anything for her, because he loves her so much.

it makes me think of prejudice and people being judgmental. it's all about love right?
"we're going to hell just because we're werewolves" makes me think of people who are judged for being gay, you know the hardcore christian guys who are all like "you're going to hell just because you're in love with another man" blah blah blah. to me it sounds as if someone is judging the two of them, looking down upon them, and he's saying that he's in it with her, whatever happens it happens to the both of them .. "my love it's quite a thrill" .. it's dangerous, but they're in it together, regardless of what everyone else thinks. and maybe .. without her, it wouldn't be okay, but while she's there he doesn't care what the world thinks, it's only them. not saying it's about being gay, obviously, but older people always seem to be quick to judge young people in love.

and for the record i am actually catholic, but i disagree with the kinds of people i was talking about.

Maybe it's because I read a lot of fantasy, or maybe I'm just taking the song too literally, but I've always seen this song as actually being about werewolves, not just using the word symbolically. Anyway, I thought I'd list some of the key lyrics and my interpretation

• I agree with what rockandrollbethy said about this bit being about sex, but I also think that both of them will change into werewolves at midnight - hence "I'ts eleven fifty seven". So they have sex then change.
