Maybe it's because I read a lot of fantasy, or maybe I'm just taking the song too literally, but I've always seen this song as actually being about werewolves, not just using the word symbolically. Anyway, I thought I'd list some of the key lyrics and my interpretation
Today I went,
To speak to god,
But the sky was empty,
...
We’re going to hell,
Just because we’re Werewolves,
Werewolves are damned, cannot communicate with God, go to heaven
And the world turns upside down,
Without you,
They're in love and he can't imagine living without her.
It’s eleven fifty seven,
She tastes so sweet,
And I want more,
Just a second,
Lay in heaven,
As my heart,
Hit, hit, hits the floor,
I agree with what rockandrollbethy said about this bit being about sex, but I also think that both of them will change into werewolves at midnight - hence "I'ts eleven fifty seven". So they have sex then change.
