Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

I feel the salty waves come in, I feel them crash against my skin
And I smile as I respire because I know they'll never win
There's a haze above my TV that changes everything I see
And maybe if I continue watchin', I'll lose the traits that worry me

Can we fast-forward to go down on me?

Stop there, and let me correct it
I wanna live a life from a new perspective
You come along because I love your face
And I'll admire your expensive taste, and
Who cares? Divine intervention
I wanna be praised from a new perspective
But leaving now would be a good idea
So catch me up on gettin' out of here

Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
(Can we fast-forward to go down on me?)
Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Taking everything for granted, but we still respect the time
We move along with some new passion knowing everything is fine
(Everything is fine)
And I would wait and watch the hours fall in a hundred separate lines
But I regain repose and wonder how I ended up inside (up inside)

Can we fast-forward to go down on me?

Stop there, and let me correct it
I wanna live a life from a new perspective
You come along because I love your face
And I'll admire your expensive taste, and
Who cares? Divine intervention
I wanna be praised from a new perspective
But leaving now would be a good idea
So catch me up on gettin' out of here
Catch me up on gettin' out of here

More to the point, I need to show
How much I can come and go
Other plans fell through
And put a heavy load on you, I know
There's no more that need be said
When I'm inching through your bed
Take a look around instead, and watch me go
Ah, ah, ah, ah-ah-ah, ah, ah

Stop there, and let me correct it
I wanna live a life from a new perspective
You come along because I love your face
And I'll admire your expensive taste, and
Who cares? Divine intervention
I wanna be praised from a new perspective
But leaving now would be a good idea
So catch me up on gettin' out of here
It's not fair, just let me perfect it
Don't wanna live a life that was comprehensive
'Cause seeing clear would be a bad idea
Now catch me up on gettin' out of here
So catch me up on gettin' out of here

Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
(G-g-go down on me)
Ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
(Can we fast-forward to go down?)

    My Interpretation

*so i'm gonna assume this is Brendon's lyrics because he is the single one of the remaining group ..i.e. Spencer lol. And this song does touch on a new perspective, they're goal as a reinvented group to have a new sound because of the way they look at life, and this goes into Brendon's personal life, his personal goal of how he looks at love or how it is shown. BTW his "new perspective" is more optimistic, like how this song sounds without the lyrics, listen to the instrumentals..there are tiny little instruments that really dig up that happy side of you. And i love that the title is straight forward because the meaning is straight forward.

I feel the salty waves come in I feel them crash against my skin And I smile as I respire because I know they'll never win

-he uses very negative* words like "salty" "crash against", i'm guessing the waves are waves of negativity, since they did break up, there is that applied thought that they could possibly not get through this. But he knows ("smiles") that they can get through it ("they'll never win").

There's a haze above my TV That changes everything I see And maybe if I continue watching I'll lose the traits that worry me

-the "haze above my TV" is a metaphore..it's what clicked in his mind to change his perspective on life. And if he keeps looking at life this way he loses his insecurities in the way he makes music and his personal life.

Can we fast-forward to go down on me?

-possibly his immature goals when he was younger..i'm not being sarcastic...this is just an example of how he looked at acions of affection in the past..lust and love.

Stop there and let me correct it -See how he said in the first line of the chorus "fast-forward", and now he says "STOP" and he wants to correct it...change the way he sees this certain part in his mind.

I wanna live a life from a new perspective -The best part of the song.

You come along because I love your face And I'll admire your expensive taste -this certain girl that he lustED for. And its all right there he liked her for her looks and basically his thoughts are "i guess i'll like your shallow side too ("expensive taste")".

And who cares divine intervention -"Divine Intervention" is another phrase meaning miracle from God. And basically he's not changed religiously, like what most likely happens to artist after a huge change in their life, but Brendon just tweaked his point of view on things not exactly religiously.

I wanna be praised from a new perspective -He wants to be loved or known for this new point of view in life.."praise" would be towards the fans..they want the fans to listen to their songs and realize that its different because of this new perspective.

But leaving now would be a good idea So catch me up on getting out of here -leaving this (bed)room or this state of mind would be a good idea.

Taking everything for granted but we still respect the time We move along with some new passion knowing everything is fine -The first line is a bit more complicated because i understand this verse talking mostly about the split. Maybe the "taking everything for granted" part is knowing how talented Ryan and Jon are but they know the way they see things are totally different..so they will respect the time they spent together as a group.

And I would wait and watch the hours fall in a hundred separate lines But I regain repose and wonder how I ended up inside -"hundred separate lines" mean his lyrics, the songs he writes that take real concentration and accuracy to write well ("hours fall"), and it probably was difficult for him to write. But he regains repose and thinks about how he has all this, the fame, the 2.2 million albums sold..because the fans loved their songs.

Can we fast-forward to go down on me? Stop there and let me correct it I wanna live a life from a new perspective You come along because I love your face and I'll admire your expensive taste And who cares divine intervention I wanna be praised from a new perspective But leaving now would be a good idea So catch me up on getting out of here

More to the point, I need to show How much I can come and go -So back to the point, they need to show how well he can comeback with new things...and that they can change their look and sound of music as many times but they still come back with great things.

Other plans fell through And put a heavy load on you -Because of the split alot of things changed or didn't happen..and this put a heavy load on Brendon and Spencer because they still are carrying the band's name.

I know there's no more that need be said -He knows that there are no more things that need to be said between him, Spencer, Jon, and Ryan because it is what it was, change, but they will stay friends..

When I'm inching through your bed Take a look around instead and watch me go -there is that feeling ("inching") that he can turn back ("take a look around") but instead he went ahead.

Stop there and let me correct it I wanna live a life from a new perspective You come along because I love your face and I'll admire your expensive taste And who cares divine intervention I wanna be praised from a new perspective But leaving now would be a good idea So catch me up on getting out of here

It's not fair, just let me perfect it -it's not fair he wanted to change the past with what he knows now. He grew up alot...its like that question "if you knew what you know now would things be different?"........its all part of growing up, you can't really change the past or else there is no growing up stage.

Don't wanna live a life that was comprehensive 'Cause seeing clear would be a bad idea -comprehensive means to cover many things, or to include everything, having a wide scope or a full view. i guess this means that he doesn't want to understand/experience everything all at once because he wants to grow up in baby steps. Because the things he experiences or learns help him to create music.

Now catch me up on getting out of here So catch me up I'm getting out of here

*maybe not the word i exactly mean

    Song Meaning

Some people think New Perspective is about the splitting of Ryan and Jon form the band. Some people think it's about Brendon being a man slut and wanting a girl to go down on him. Some people don't even know what the hell it means. Well guess what, I figured it out. I know what the lyrics mean:

The song is about learning to be in love and not just to want a physical relationship. He's kind of torn between the two. He says, "Can we fast forward to go down on me..." (****) but then he's like, "Stop there, and let me correct it..." At first he just wants the physical thing but then he decides to do it the right way. "You come along because I love your face" is how he just likes her looks but then he says, "Divine Intervention, I wanna live a life from a new perspective" meaning that he wants to love her personality too. "But leaving now would be a good idea..." is like he's on her door step and instead of going in, he says 'goodnight' and calls her then next day. So he's leaving instead of moving too fast in the relationship because he's seeing things from a new perspective. "Inching through your bed..." is like he's about to make the move but then he says, "Instead, watch me go" and he doesn't. Being "praised from a new perspective" means that he wants her to love him for not moving too fast and doing things right. He would "wait and watch the hours fall in a hundred separate lines" means that he'll wait until the relationship is ready for the next step. "Seeing clear would be a bad idea" means that he really doesn't want to see clear in love, he just wants to be in love and be happy instead of dissecting things. And in the end he chooses to be in REAL love instead of phony love (i.e. physical relationship) and says, "I'm getting out of here." And the part of him that wants to "fast forward until you go down on me" fades out in the end because it doesn't control him anymore.

The "salty waves" are pretty much just his temptations. But "they'll never win."

I'm going to wait for the song to come out before I start splitting this song to bits and analizing every litle thing because I think hearing the melody is huge when trying to find the meaning of a song.

But, just by reading the lyrics this song seems to be about the split, specially the first two sentences: "I feel the salty waves come in I feel them crash against my skin"

that just seems so heart-broken in general.

i think this song is pretty much about giving up on hooking up and one night stands and that sort of thing and just waiting to pretty much falling in love with a girl for more than just sex. he wants to take a "new perspective" on love and life and focus on the good things

...never thought Panic would know how to say what I'm feeling. They changed for the better, so happy this is what they've become Really think the first songs and album were just to get into the industry...

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
