The Lighter
Her hands just won't stop shaking
I hope she gets the feeling
This is becoming too routine.

Always chase heartache with two shades of blush;
One white and the other one is beige.
Your smile is so contagious
I think we're catching it again
You said it's not your problem

So I pushed foundations across your chest
Oh, don't let it get you down.

She's like a fire buring into the walls
Just like her shadow you know I won't forget
He's like the lighter sending her up in flames
Her smoke is seen for miles and miles.

He says don't stop while she's getting it all.
He's turning around and won't look back,
But she knows when she hits that terminal, it's on.
This is life at the speed of light, don't turn around on me.

So I pushed foundations across your chest
Oh, don't let it get you down.

She's like a fire buring into the walls
Just like her shadow you know I won't forget
He's like the lighter sending her up in flames
Her smoke is seen for miles and miles.

She's getting it all, she's getting it all
He's turning around and won't look back.
But she know's when she hits that terminal, it's on.

What have you been waiting for? (She's like a fire)
This is the way it goes, tonight, you know. (She's like a fire)

She's like a fire buring into the walls
Just like her shadow you know I won't forget
He's like the lighter sending her up in flames
Her smoke is seen for miles and miles.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
