In the back of my mind, well I thought my god
'Cause all of the hell that's in my time
But I can still see the birds
And where they went this year

Our winter made things hazy and I know
That I was losing sight of my hometown
And in my blacking out I think I let you down
Don't let them try to save me
'Cause I'm already crazy

And there is something in your face
That pulls me far enough away
I guess that I always knew
That I'd find you when I thought

That I'd be letting out my darkest now
And in my climbing out I think I let you live
I wish you'd try to save me
Your silence makes me crazy

It takes a lot to say that something is fate
I kind of know where you're headed
Am I too up front or am I just on time
Well where is your head at?

And there is something in your face
That pulls me far enough away
I guess that I always knew
That I'd find you when I thought

I reached my point, I let them down
I slept in the worst part of this town
You are my song
And you are where I want to be

I want to take those steps I never have
I need to stand up straight
So I can feel your breath
I really think for once that I can change
It's really not that bad

I'm learning now that I was wrong in everything
And that's the reason why I think that I can grow
It's really not that bad

It's in the way you had
It's in the way you had
Me all wrapped up like
I'm a part of something finally
and I'm never looking back

And there is something in your face
That pulls me far enough away
I guess that I always knew
That I'd find you when I thought

I reached my point, I let them down
I slept in the worst part of this town
You are my song
And you are where I want to be

I reached my point, I let them down
I slept in the worst part of this town
You are my song
And you are where I want to be

Thank you for posting this! Some of these lines were killing me trying to figure out.

It's just the second part of the chorus that's missing:

"I'd reached my point, I let them down. I slept in the worst part of this town. You are my song, and you are where I want to be."

the title speaks for itself, this is a song that keeps on giving. The singer is saying that he's done, over it, he knows now exactly where he WANTS to be. Perhaps in the past, distractions lead [him] off course but now, now he knows what's real and true.

And there is something in your face That pulls me far enough away I guess that I always knew That I'd find you when I thought

    • There's that something about a person when you just KNOW. However, more likely than not, weary away from this intense reality in that it can be scary and all too definitive for us if we are not aware or ready. But deep down, you know there will come a day when you will find them (again, if you're ever so lucky to have the chance), exactly when you THOUGHT you would (or, "should").

I reached my point, I let them down I slept in the worst of part of this town You are my song And you are where I want to be

    • Typically, it's when you've hit rock bottom that you KNOW: what, who & WHERE you want to be.

I really think for once that I can change It's really not that bad I'm learning now that I was wrong at everything And that's the reason why I think that I can grow

    • This is a sign of maturity and growing up. When you realize "hey, this getting older this isn't as bad as I thought it would be." With age comes wisdom - and strength. Much strength. Now that you should be proud of.

I can't even describe how this song makes me feel. It's wonderful. AJ is an amazing writer that has grown so much.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
