I set my words on the ground and I was grinding my teeth
I planted pieces of light to see if planets could speak
It took my mind by surprise
When I was finally free, through all my darkest days
I felt my heartbeat
Again, and dropped to my knees
There was a sun in my eyes that made
A star out of me.
It's like my life was a list and my head was first
To get crossed off.
It's the pleasure that I keep to sit down with my
Friends and talk about my day.
Can you hear me? well I don't even care.
I'll stop my screaming if you look the other way.
It's been a bad year
So let me sleep in one more day.
I really found the simple things live
Closest to your home.
I'm not alone because I live inside a world that
Is my own. I haven't found what
I've been looking for yet, but you can count on me to stay forever
And that's the truth, we'll stay just fine

I'm coming back and just on time to be myself again
The way that made me real
So tell me, have you surfaced yet?
This is how it felt
When I was growing up and being part of no one but you found yourself
And that says a lot to me these days
I'm sorry for the way I used to
Be, I was just a kid. yeah, let me sleep this off
Try not to be hard on yourself was all I ever heard from her
I finally think I understand
What she was saying to me
Because nothing's worth the pain in your back
Believe in that. the world can take control but don't ever lose
Your heart, because I know you better than that

My interpretation: AJ is sick of those people who don't want him to pursue a career with music. that's why he says "can you hear me? well i don't even care" I love the line "It's been a bad year, so let me sleep in one more day" He's still looking for that something that will tell him music is what he's supposed to be doing, but for now he's happy with what he chose (and thank goodness he chose music) BEST. ALBUM. EVER. ASJDHASKJDAL i want to meet this band so bad and tell the entire universe that they exist.

I reeeaally fuckin' hate (excuse my choice of words) how they've posted half of this bands lyrics.. Makes it shitload of NOT easy to follow and it's looking like a bunch of words just mixed in there without any thoughs behind -.-

found them a couple years ago through all time low, and i fucking love this band. there has yet to be one song that i dont like that aj's written. as for the meaning...im not so sure but i have a few theories which im sure aren't right so i'll keep them to myself haha but i LOVE the lyrics "can you hear me? well i don't even care" and "It's been a bad year, so let me sleep in one more day" and "It took my mind by surprise when I was finally free, through all my darkest days. I felt my heartbeat again, and dropped to my knees."

    they are definitely going places.

At the end of the bridge I think he says "Because I know you better than that- because I know you're better than that..."

    My Interpretation

I think this songs about losing yourself in the chaos of everyday life and getting overwhelmed, but finding the strength to pull yourself out again and rediscover your identity and realizing that you have to just go day to day, not taking even the smallest things for granted i.e. "It's the pleasure that i keep to sit down with my friends and talk about my day." and "I really found the simple things live closest to your home, im not alone because i live inside a world that is my own(an insanely meaningful line on its own.)"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
