@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
cutting belts and magazines
and things you'll never need
the mirrors in you room at night
and skies that never fold
you're sorry that it matters more
but who would ever tell
I know you need to stay above
but I swore
I swore
I swore
it's all over your eyes
there's nothning you can do
I'm coming out my skin tonight
so tell me if you're ready or no
I'm tired of living out a lie
sitting here watching things flying by me
and maybe maybe
you're gonna save me
maybe maybe
but I don't know
I don't think so
las night I woke up cold
and I walked right out into the dark
and 800 reasons why kept flying into my eyes
wish I could say that i killed 'em dead
but they're just much bigger than I
it's all over your eyes
there's nothing you can do
I'm coming out my skin tonight
so tell me if you're ready or no
I'm tired of living out a lie
sitting here watching things flying by me
and maybe maybe
you're gonna save me
maybe maybe
but I don't know
I don't think so
it's half my life
it's half my life
and things you'll never need
the mirrors in you room at night
and skies that never fold

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Great song beautifully sung I've read over it many times and what i think it means is that someone is keeping a secret to protect another person and he is tired of living the lie but he swore he would do it and he's wishing the person he's keeping the secret from will save him, will fess up i guess. Also, this song was on an episode of the show 'Numb3rs' which was conveys a similiar message.
Editted from other post didn't explain what i meant correctly:
Great song beautifully sung
I've read over it many times and what i think it means is that someone is keeping a bad secret to protect another person and he is tired of living the lie that is his life but should be the other guys life - but he swore he would do it and he's wishing the person he's keeping the secret for will save him, will fess up i guess.
Also, this song was on an episode of the show 'Numb3rs' which was conveys a similiar message
The more I listen to, and read the lyrics the more I think it is about a relationship coming to an end. The line "it's all over your eyes, there is nothing you can do" is similar to the eyes are the portal to the soul, and he sees the love for him gone in the others eyes. And the way he is speaking of his own feelings, that he is tired of living a lie, is that he feels that same love loss.
This was on the May 8th episode of Numb3rs. Such a good song.
I used to cry to this song because I could relate to it. Especially where he says:
'and 800 reasons why kept flying into my eyes wish I could say that i killed 'em dead but they're just much bigger than I '
In my opinion, the song is about a relationship ending..and out of the 2 parties, you're the only one trying to make things work out..it's like you're purposefully blinding yourself so that you don't see the obvious and can still stay with the other person..but unfortunately, the latter keeps on giving you reasons to leave, to hate him/her, and to not love him/her..
And even though you can see clearly that he/she's not going to love you back, you want to stick around him/her for as long as you can..until you can't live this lie anymore..
A song written about hoping in vain. A painfully beautiful one.
