Closed off from love
I didn't need the pain
Once or twice was enough
And it was all in vain
Time starts to pass
Before you know
It you're frozen

But something happened
For the very first time
With you
My heart melts
Into the ground
Found something true
And everyone's
Looking round
Thinking I'm going crazy

But I don't care
What they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know
The truth
My heart's crippled
By the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open

Trying hard not to hear
But they talk so loud
Their piercing sounds
Fill my ears
Try to fill me with doubt
Yet I know that the goal
Is to keep me from falling

But nothings greater
Than the rush that comes
With your embrace
And in this
World of loneliness
I see your face
Yet everyone around me
Thinks
That I'm going crazy
Maybe, maybe

But I don't care
What they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know
The truth
My heart's crippled
By the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

And it's draining all of me
Oh, they find it
Hard to believe
I'll be wearing these scars
For everyone to see

But I don't care
What they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know
The truth
My heart's crippled
By the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

this song is so beautiful. it is a real love song that talks about not caring what people think about you or who you hapen to fall in love with. it is right when they say that they dont know the truth. they dont. only u kno what is in ur heart. and how you feel about him or her. and it is very metaphorical. love does cut u open in a way....and when u fall in love, you do keep bleeding. it can be very painful and it does hurt. i never have noticed until now how the peole you love can really affect you and how you react to things in life. what it does to you. u become a new person. maybe you are actually bleeding and maybe we do just let it happen and flow.

    My Interpretation

He doesn't normally romantically involve himself with anyone because he doesn't like the pain that comes with it. Although he's loved once or twice before it was for his benefit; he gave in to temptation and in result of loving someone he became frozen meaning he was hurt so bad in his previous relationships that he believed he would no longer love someone ever again.

Then he met someone who changed his perspective on love. There's something about her that makes him believe that there's more to love than just pain. He's so in love with her that everyone around him thinks he's going crazy over the things he will do for her.

But people are filling his mind with doubt probably saying things like "you deserve better" but he doesn't care cause he's so blinded by love. They're trying so hard to make him see the bad in the relationship but he knows that they don't see how much good she brings him. As he's previously been hurt before he's tried to close the part of his heart that allows him to love others but that only leads him to loneliness but this new person comes along and opens that part of his heart open again for him, and he can't help but love her.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
