In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Hollywood whore
Passed out on the floor
I'm sorry but the party's over
Cocaine nose and trendy clothes
Gotta send her to rehab
She found out she's got no soul
But it really doesn't bother her
White trash queen, American dream
Oh what a role model
Throwin' a fit, makin' a scene
Like no tomorrow
Hollywood whore
Passed out on the floor
Can't take it no more
I'm sorry but the party's over
The talk of the town
Is she's going down
I'm sorry but the party's over now
Awake by noon, drunk by four
Sucked up in the showbiz
You're so lame, you're such a bore
I wanna kick your teeth in
Plastic smile to match your style
We can tell you got a face lift
You're so vain, oh so vile
You're a number one hit
Hollywood whore
Passed out on the floor
Can't take it no more
I'm sorry but the party's over
The talk of the town
Is she's going down
I'm sorry but the party's over
The cameras are gone
And nobody screams
She couldn't survive
Her fifteen minutes of fame
Her friends are all gone
She's going insane
She'll never survive
Without the money and fame
It's all going down the drain
Hollywood whore
Passed out on the floor
I'm sorry but the party's over
The talk of the town
Is she's going down
I'm sorry but the party's over
Hollywood whore
Passed out on the floor
I'm sorry but the party's over
The talk of the town
Is that shes goin' down
I'm sorry but the party's over
Wake up
The party's over
Wake up
The party's over
Wake up
The party's over
Wake up
The party's over now
Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya honey
Passed out on the floor

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
(hahaha) don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya hunny (hahahaha)
What does that mean?
I'm not sure. But I think it might be kinda saying, "Don't let this lifestyle come back and kick you in the ass"??
Actually the line, "don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya hunny." It might mean the saying don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. But I believe it is even more complex than that, I think "the door" actually symbolizes the men that she sleeps with. They "hit" her or fuck her. "The good lord split ya" I think means her vagina since she is a whore, but i might be over thinking it.
I think it actually means that she was once big and on top but now that people realized how much of a whore she was the record company kicks her out.
I think it actually means that she was once big and on top but now that people realized how much of a whore she was the record company kicks her out. the actual saying is when someone kicks you out of a place and the door is a door and where the good lord split yah means your ass cuz everyone has that its a general meaning.
