There's no money, there's no possessions
Only obsession, I don't need that shit
Take my money, take my obsession

I just want to be heard, loud and clear are my words
Coming from within man, tell 'em what you heard
It's about a revolution, in your heart and in your mind
You can find a conclusion, lifestyle and obsession
Diamond rings get you nothin' but a life-long lesson
And your pocketbooks stressin'
You're a slave to the system, workin' jobs that you hate
For that shit you don't need
It's too bad the world is based on greed
Step back and see
Stop thinkin' 'bout yourself, start thinking' about

There's no money, there's no possession
Only obsession, I don't need that shit
Take my money, take my possession, take my obsession
I don't need that

'Cause everything is nothing
And emptiness isn't everything
This reality is really just a fucked up dream
With the flesh and the blood that you call your soul
Flip it inside out, it's a big black hole
Take your money burn it up like an asteroid
Possessions, they are never gonna fill the void
Take it away and learn the best lesson
The heart, the soul, the life, the passion

There's no money, there's no possession
Only obsession, I don't need that shit
Take my money, take my possessions, take my obsession
I don't need that shit

Money, possession, obsession

Present yourself, press your clothes
Comb your hair, clock in
You just can't win, just can't win
And the things you own, own you
No!

Take my money, take my possession, take my obsession
I don't need that shit
Fuck your money, fuck your possession
Fuck your obsession, I don't need that shit
Money, possession, obsession
I don't need that shit

HAS ANYONE ELSE BESIDES ME NOTICED THAT PAPA ROACH TOOK A BUNCH OF THESE LINES FROM FIGHT CLUB? IN MY OPINION (AND I SERIOUSLY DONT SEE WHY ITS NOT YOURS) FIGHT CLUB IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER. IN THE SCENE WHERE TYLER AND UM, TYLER FIRST SIT IN THE BAR TOGETHER, THEYRE DISCUSSING WHAT HAPPENED TO ED NORTONS CONDO, AND BRAD PITT TALKS ABOUT ED NORTONS "LIFESTYLE OBSESSION", THEN AT THE END HE SAYS "THE THINGS YOU OWN, OWN YOU", HE SAYS "YOU END UP WORKING JOBS THAT YOU HATE FOR THE SHIT YOU DONT NEED"I CANT BELIEVE NO ONE ELSE POITED THAT OUT. YOU ALL NEED TO GO TO BLOCKBUSTER AND STEAL A COPY OF FIGHT CLUB, AND WATCH IT AT LEAST 5 TIMES A DAY LIKE I DO. SHIT IM WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW.

This song means that money is shit and all it does is swallow people. All the possessions are really not what we need.Remember, the best things in life arent things.

    Excellent song!

This song is sooo true. It outlines how pathetic society is and how all these people have turned us into materialistic freaks. The singer is trying to get across that you don't need to be materialistic to enjoy life. Soooo true!

    This song is ACUALLY about...

Ok, Papa Roach was recording in LA, where everybody revolves around money and possessions...

And them, being only a local band, felt like new fish, and small. They wrote this song explaining that not everthing revolves around money and how there are things that can't be solved by a 20 dollar bill... they wrote this song half way through the recording of there album Infest...

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
