As you drove by in your precious vehicle, you stare in contentment at those less than privileged people. You look at them with derision, look at them from your steeple.

Go snivel in your disgrace because you don’t retaliate; Disparage them because they were granted good health
Go bask in your wealth, go ride through your neighborhood, go to the place in silence and stealth

Go to the place in your mind where the rails cross, where you met the one who gave you that gold.
Look upon the man with the sign in vanity. Read with your lips, “Will Work For Food.”
But then comes the end and that deep, empty whistle, exhorting rampant into you with your final moan

Cross the rails to the right side of the tracks.
Can you make your way to the love that you lacked?
Break monotony, slip into your safeguard, amend your old ways, discharge your alarm

But still he comes for you, when the other was gone. Place his hands upon your essence and protecting you from harm.
The one you mocked, the one you never saw, the one that was your savior, the one you disregarded.

He sits at home, wondering why he let you go, how he let you fly, how he let you by
Why he didn’t care, why he doesn’t cry.
He sits alone pondering, surreptitiously waiting to regain your company.

But now you’re with those true elite that you hid from all those years.
So must he tell himself, choking back the tears, how love still waits for him?
Just to futilely amble back again.

But his passage to the rails were made unaided
So simply he left, before it faded
Does that prove the truth that he foresaw?
Will you forgive? Will you break your own law?

Will you take the chance?
He’ll wait for you, for the answer to his plan
He presses the gun against your head, holds the trigger in his hand
“Your choice, not a demand.”
Is it worth the trial, worth the loss, worth the chance, worth it again?
