Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.
This is the calm before the storm,
Pretty words through your bedroom door.
And everybody knows that,
It is a place to store.
Why say something safe,
When I can blow you away.
It's a game only lights play,
Some swing the perfume away.
So take off
All of your clothes.
Through the shame of taking names,
My heart is in the home.
So take off
All of your clothes.
Through the shame of taking names,
My heart is in the home.
This is a stab in the back,
That I have been waiting for,
You've had me running in circles,
Loosing my head at all cost
And it isn't a secret,
If you can't keep it.
So i disguise the night,
Cut you down, down to size.
So take off
All of your clothes.
Through the shame of taking names,
My heart is in the home.
So take off
All of your clothes.
Through the shame of taking names,
My heart is in the home.
Cowards are golden,
And I know the words hurt.
Bones we can fix,
And lessons we'll learn.
Cowards are golden,
And I know the words hurt.
Bones we can fix,
And lessons we'll learn.
Cowards are golden.. (X4)
Cowards are golden,
And I know the words hurt.
Bones we can fix,
and lessons we'll learn.
Cowards are golden,
And I know the water.
Bones we can fix,
The lessons we'll learn.
You mean more... (X4)

not sure about these help?
I think this is the correct lyrics.

You mean more. You mean more. You mean more. You mean more
i don't really get it.. good song thought, really love it. x
i need to fix these lyrics later. they're not quite right...lol
This is a stab in the back, That I have been waiting for, You've had me running in circles, Listen to more of the cause.
And it isn't a secret, If you can't keep it. So i disguise the night, Cut you down, down to size. -To me this means he lies to her, tells her what he thinks she wants to hear. Lift her up to cut her back down to size, get with her, then leave.
So take off All of your clothes. Through the shame of taking names, My heart is in the home. -dead give away here. He may feel like he likes her... but he is just going to use her.
I think what they are trying to get across in this song is the mis-use of the word love. people say it all the time and really have absolutely no idea what it means... at all.
apply it to the lyrics and it makes 200x more sense than it did before. look at it this way.: "i love you." the three words through your bedroom door
why say something safe, when i can blow your mind away? its a game only liars play. (as in people dont know what it really means but they say it anyways.)
I think this song is about having an affair. "my heart is in the home" he loves his wife/girlfriend not the other girl.
"This is a stab in the back, That I have been waiting for, You've had me running in circles, Listen to more of the cause." She has been threatening to tell for a long time. She has been making him do things so she wouldn't tell but he knew it would happen.
"And it isn't a secret, If you can't keep it. So i disguise the night, Cut you down, down to size." He is trying to convince the other girl not to tell anyone about what they are doing. He is going to go by her and 'cut her down to size' probably by telling her it's her fault too.
I'm pretty sure it's
"Cowards are golden, And I know the words hurt. Bones we can fix, The lessons we'll learn."
I mean I listened to it like 137573782 times and I'm seriously almost positive that's what it is :P It makes more sense, too.
I agree, I also think it's words hurt, not water, not words... Words hurt. :)
