If it hurts this much then it must be love
And it's a lottery, I can't wait to draw your name
Oh, I'm trying to get to you but time isn't on my side
If the truth's the worst I can do then I guess that I have lied

Keeping me awake, it's been like this now for days
My heart is out at sea, my head all over the place
I'm losing sense of time and everything tastes the same
I'll be home in a day, I fear that's a month too late

That night I slept on your side of the bed
So it was ready when you got home
We're like noughts and crosses
In that opposites always attract

You've taken me to the top and let me fall back south
You've had me at the top of the pile and then had me kissing the ground
We've heard and seen it all, no one's talked us out
The problems that have come haven't yet torn us down

Am I keeping you awake? If I am then just say
You can make your own decisions, you can make your own mistakes
I'll live and let die all the promises you made
But if you lie another time it'll be a lie that's too late

That night I slept on your side of the bed
So it was ready when you got home
We're like noughts and crosses
In that opposites always attract

You always have your way
For now it's too soon for you to say will we be always, always
You always have your way
For now it's too soon for you to say will we be always, always

You always have your way
For now it's too soon for you to say will we be always, always
You always have your way
For now it's too soon for you to say will we be always, always, always

You always have your way
For now it's too soon for you to say will we be always, always
You've had your way, you've had your way
You've had your way

i love this song. its about being in love with someone who is indecisive and all over the place, but loving them through all of that because your the sensible one that trys to keep them grounded :) thats my interpretation, 'opposites always attract'/

I'm thinking relationships, the guy in the song being so in love with the girl. Hence, "it's a lottery, I can't wait to draw your name."

They fought because of the girl's lies, and the girl left. But he's left hurting, but convinced this relationship means something.

"Oh I'm trying to get to you, but time isn't on my side." Could mean that hes trying to see the girl beneath the clothes, trying understand/get into her heart. but as time passes shes slipping away.

Hes hung up on her, closed his heart "My heart is out at sea" , dead confused and messed up. "Head all over the place".

He thinks he'll be emotionally ready to deal with it "tomorrow" but is afraid that tomorrow will come too late.

And it goes on how she goes about playing him hot and cold "You've taken me to the top and let me fall right back south. You've had me at the top of the pile and then had me kissing the ground."

So he wonders if the girls kept awake by what he said, because he pointed her mistakes out and exaggerated them in their argument "If the truth is the worse I could do, then I guess that I have lied."

but he believes they will get through it, as they've always gotten by in the past. "We've heard and seen it all and no ones talked us out. The problems that have come haven't yet torn us down,"

In the end, both parties believe each other manipulates their words, not putting in their 100percent into the relationship for the fear of getting hurt. "You always have your way, for now it's too soon for you to say, will we be always always."

In the end, both are left questioning whether they would be "always always".

I think there is someone who knows he is in love and the person who he is in love with loves him too and they can't be together but desperatley want to but there is things stopping them and gradually they grow apart and one thinks about the other way too much and still loves them whilst the other thinks about them abit and how they wasted and threw their relationship away because of the stupid things and the one in love looks back on this and everyday thinks abot them more and more and wishes they couldve been together.

I don't get how this resembles Remembering Sunday. If anything, at the beginning he sounds like the singer from The Wedding. Just because the girl comes in near the end doesn't mean it's ATL. They suck. YMAS is far from that. This song is beautiful =]

this is beyond beautifullll, love it! but i reckon its to do with being in love with someone when it seems inappropriate (noughts and crosses) and i'm guessing its to do with the problems that come with being in a relationship and a band? Just my take

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
