I really don't get this one? It's confusing. Maybe there's one of those "does not translate" things from Russian going on? Language barrier?

Taylor, I was trying to figure it out until I read your post about 220 being the standard voltage over there. Everything just kind of clicked then. I don't think electrocution is meant to be taken literally. Instead, I interpret the song as comparing being in love to being electrocuted. It takes a bit of a pessimistic view, because electrocution killing you is the same as love ending. Whether or not they're comparing it to "love" or a "fling" I think is something that can be debated. t.A.T.u. has some incredible song writers.

Actually it seems complicated but it's really not once you know how to read it the right way imho. I think it's just about how sex can take precedence over love feelings. See the translated lyrics in the video that taylorofthephunk talked about, and how it can be read in that way (even there are some wrong or inaccurate translations in it).

Btw, 220 is indeed the standard voltage in Europe and I guess electricity is a metaphor for pleasure ("220 inside me, wrap it up and go for it, 220 inside me, 220 inside her", it seems pretty clear). Besides, t.A.T.u. often have lyrics and/or video clips that mix love, sex and autodestruction (or at least destruction). I'm a fan for 10 years now and nothing the girls did could surprise me during this decade as they always tried to provoke everyone with their music and 'tudes. So I never took their songs literally without at least asking myself if I could read it in a different way.

@ktracy: I agree with the love&fling point of view, but I don't think being electrocuted can be compared to love ending and feelings disappearing. It's much more in a physical way (closer to the fling idea you mentioned). Especially with this part:

In a few words: "you want love, but I don't like the consequences of it and I just want your body". That's how I understand the song.

As usual within the girls' discography, the meaning of the english version of the song ("Sparks" for this one) is softer. But basically the idea of an "electric" sensation between two girls is still there.

Anyway yeah, they have awesome song writers!
