Butcher's Hook Lyrics

Contrite, commercial, arrogance, Leprosy
Consume the bitch, the fucker, mindless, like a child
For pity's sake, I've had all that I can take
We try, but in the end we'll see
There are no more codes
Only who is shit, and who's still free
I was gonna change the world with honor and aggression
No one listened, no one cared, all they saw was misdirection

Go ahead and disagree (I'm giving up again) X4

I don't want you anymore (I don't want you anymore)
I don't need you anymore (I don't need you anymore)
Fingerprints of God, your new religions covet
This vessel wasn't built to last, but I will live forever
You'll never have to say surrender, because it's so part of it
My total honesty has no place for tomorrow
Guilty pleasures give me pain, tell my people I can't follow

Go ahead and disagree (I'm giving up again) X4

You'll never censor me, you'd better cherish me
My reason has a voice
Freedom's gone but we'll always have a choice
My present future tense, it doesn't make much sense
I'm coming after you, fuck you all I'm the only point of view

Violence and dollar signs, another processed piece of shit
You hide your fault in diamonds and give away the only
Cost, you can't delay the inevitable
Lost, you don't understand the incredible path
I'm losing ground, but I won't care when I go down

Go ahead and disagree (I'm giving up again) X4

I'm giving up again X2

Honestly, what I get out of it, is that Corey is explaining how the music industry has changed and that its just a bunch of people in suits that are selling music and doesn't care if it is horrible or if the lyrics are horrible, if it sells then the corporates will sell it just to make a quick buck. That is why I love Slipknot and Stonesour. p.s im new to songmeanings.com

@TheOriginalChubbz I completely agree

Yeah this sounds to me like it's about how some music is today; all tailor-made to be radio friendly and not offensive.

I believe...

This song is more about government and the music industry in general than it is about any genre of music in particular.

It's about selling your soul to the beast then getting tossed away for the next big thing that sells. (commercial)

Deceiving the weak [minded?] (I pull weak from Leprosy because it corrodes muscle strength)

Oppression and fascism, freedom revoked

Vanity (flaunting their diamonds and riches to cover up their faults)

this is all i got for now, not claiming any of this is true, just my interpretation.

It's basically about how no one gives a shit about anything anymore and how corruption has taken over.

No it fucking isn't you moron! Quit making shit up to make yourself sound intelligent. Corey wrote this song and so he explained what it's about: [see the other comments]

It's interesting. But for some reason about half way through the song I started feeling slightly annoyed by it, don't know why though. Did any of you start feeling that?

funkymonks11 i find this song kind of annoy too. I really dont like the chorus. but the last half is really great starting at "You’ll never CENSOR me" i think if the chorus was something else i might like this more, i normally skip this track when listening to the cd.
