I push my fingers into my eyes
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
But it's made of all the things I have to take
Jesus, it never ends, it works it's way inside
If the pain goes on

I have screamed until my veins collapsed
I've waited as my time's elapsed
Now, all I do is live with so much hate
I've wished for this, I've bitched at that
I've left behind this little fact
You cannot kill what you did not create
I've gotta say what I've gotta say
And then, I swear, I'll go away
But I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise
I guess I'll save the best for last
My future seems like one big past
You're left with me 'cause you left me no choice

I push my fingers into my eyes
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
If the pain goes on
I'm not gonna make it

Put me back together
Or separate the skin from bone
Leave me all the pieces
Then you can leave me alone
Tell me the reality is better than the dream
But I found out the hard way
Nothing is what it seems

I push my fingers into my eyes
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
But it's made of all the things I have to take
Jesus, it never ends, it works it's way inside
If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it

All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane

I push my fingers into my eyes
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
But it's made of all the things I have to take
Jesus, it never ends, it works it's way inside
If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it

All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane
All I've got, all I've got is insane

    This song is fucking amazing.

This song is about the band dealing with every problem they've had over the past couple of years and it definitely reflects any struggles they have.

I relate to this song so fucking much and it acutally helps clear my head a bit. I hope im not the only one.

    SLIPKNOT FUCKING OWNS!

A (SIC) Maggot and fab666, what are you complaining about? Everyone has to get into Slipknot somehow, saying that anyone who didn't listen to them before the subliminal verses is stupid. A (SIC) Maggot, you even said yourself that you only got into listening to them after hearing IOWA, what is the difference?

I started listening to Slipknot from the first album, so by your logic, I should be able to look down on you and by the same token, my mate, who has a copy of Mate, feed, kill, repeat should be able to call me a posser. It is really dumb.

I think it is pathetic to try and prove how much of a fan you are, by pissing on people who haven't been into a band as long as you have. In my eyes, that makes you less of a fan, because a true fan wouldn't care how long other fans have been into the band, they would just be stoked, that other people are getting into them and have started to appreciate the music aswell.

So what if a lot of "preps" are getting into Slipknot because of 'Duality'? Can you honeslty tell me that you have never got interested in a band, based on one song? I know I can't. I started listening to them after hearing 'Wait and Bleed' If 'Duality' is the starting point for a bunch of "preps" to broaden their musical horizons, to incorporate Slipknot and rock music in general, then cool.

    Song Meaning

I am not 100 % sure on all of the meanings but i'm pretty sure "you cannot kill what you did not create" means that music industry's cannot kill slipknot because they created themselves and "I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise" is also directed at music company's as they probably wont like the sound of slipknot.

"I push my fingers into my eyes It's the only thing That slowly stops the ache If the pain goes on I'M NOT KINDA MAGGOT! "

Hey, it seems to me like som kind of weird schisophrenic's confession.. like Franz Kafka described in 'Metamorphosis' (well, if anybody of you ever heard of him - leaving alone if anybody read the book at all). Then that's simply why the song's called Duality - you live your life divided into 2 characters (ordinary human being & fucking insect or kinda disgusting maggot)... .. .. .. huh, just kidding.. >:D

    I know it's "I'M NOT GONNA MAKE IT! "

Anyway Corey and his boys rule !!

    Peace.

i think this song was the Easiest To understand, Subliminal messages on the Media, Theres noting else To look " i push my fingers into my eyes" , trying to keep the messages away, "u cannot kill what u did not create" , u can never get them out cause u dont know where they are,

" it works his way inside" , Sublimanl messages dont come only from images, but from all sort of feelings even touch...

i think this Song is Exactly what the Tittle of the CD is, "sublimal"

I think it can be best surmised as coming to terms with yourself.

There is definitely hidden messages in this song. Goes quite well with the whole "subliminal" theme.

At first the person is suffering and raging against everything. What makes it painful is they are stretched out between their mortal side and their state as a higher being (eternal side).

"I've wished for this I've bitched for that I've left beind this little fact You cannot kill what you did not create"

That no matter what, you can drive yourself through hell and back, you can torture and punish yourself, you can dig, dig, DIG, but you cannot destroy who you are. Simply because you are not who you created.

Like I said, its about coming to terms.

Everyone has a certain potential. Everyone is different. Does it ever occur to you that there is some strange reason that there seems to be a unique path we gravitate towards, yet we do not have the full understanding until later in our life?

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
