We're so dark by night, I am lost
directions getting faded
remember what you're taught
she's so bright, i'll use her as light
she's so much more than decoration

She can fly, and shes no angel in the sky
she's a witch but she knows better not to take me when she flys
and i miss how she looks me in the eyes
oh this sounds like desperation

if you're a bird then i'm a bird
but if you cant fly then neither will i
cause in love is not the right time, to die

her wings are spread,
she's stuck here on the ground
she's not heavy, she's my world
i'll carry her around
i hear her breathing, that's my favorite sound

if you're a bird then i'm a bird
but if you cant fly then neither will i
cause in love is not the right time to die
we still have our whole life to be with you and im done
and make this life a good one

this sound is amazing.. it's just about being so in love with someone that you can't/won't be without them.

this is my favorite from the EP. the second i saw the title i immediately thought that it was going to be a reference to the notebook.. and it was (: "if you're a bird, i'm a bird" is my favorite line from that movie :D it's such a cute song. love it.

I love this fact this song is based around that quote from the Notebook. I didn't even put that together.

I have a q: Does he say "Cause IN love is not the right time to die" (like he's in love with a girl) Or "...THEN love is not the right time to die" Sounds like "in love" to me.

you know, at first, i thought the only part that was based around the notebook was that part in the chorus when he says "if you're a bird, then i'm a bird". but if you really listen to it, this WHOLE song is based around the notebook. 'cuz noah stays with alley until she dies, and then he actually loves her so much, that he ends up dying with her.

and the whole second verse is like, when noah is at the home with her, and their kids come to visit and they tell him to come home. and he tells her that he can't 'cuz their mother is his home, and he's supporting her, and he's just glad she's still breathing.

idk, it just really sounds like the whole movie to me. i love this song, i gave it to my boyfriend on his c.d i burned for him :P

and these boys are geniuses, they know every girl can't resist this movie, an ultimate chick magnet song for them ;) hahaha.

I was talking to them and they said something about mentioning the notebook in their songs. I'm assuming this is what they were talking about. This is such a good song. This band is amazing.

Oh and it is 'in love is not the right time to die'

    Song Meaning

ive been listening to this song for a while (and i just watched the notebook) and this is what i think

We're so dark by night, I am lost directions getting faded remember what you're taught - (to follow your heart) she's so bright, i'll use her as light- (he loves her, she brightens his world) she's so much more than decoration-(in the notebook women are often looked at as 'decoration' and dont have say in things [back in early 1900s])

She can fly, and shes no angel in the sky she's a witch but she knows better not to take me when she flys-(he knows she has not perfect, like when he calls her a pain in the ass lol. im not sure about the "she knows better not to take..." part) and i miss how she looks me in the eyes-(allie has alzheimers and therefore isnt herself) oh this sounds like desperation- (hes desperate for her back)

if you're a bird then i'm a bird -(theyll always be together) but if you cant fly then neither will i- (he'll never leave her) cause in love is not the right time, to die-(he wont die without her?)

her wings are spread, she's stuck here on the ground- (shes having a tough time with her illness) she's not heavy, she's my world -(shes not a burden on him, shes everything to him) i'll carry her around - (hell do anything for her, take her whereever she wants) i hear her breathing, that's my favorite sound - (he loves everything about her)

tell me what you think :)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
