Beware! Cougar! Lyrics
When I met you, you were on your back
We still spend most afternoons like that
But not for long
I find myself enjoying you
But you play these reckless games
You'll never lose as long as I'm around
Do you wanna tie me up?
Do you wanna tie me down?
Go ahead and do it now
So far, so good
Let it roll, let it ride, ride
So far, so good
Let us fall, let us fight, fight
It's no fun on the sidelines
Well, we both know I'm too young for you
And when you fake a laugh behind the wheel
I know where this road is heading to
With a sunken lie, I lay in bed
But I will live to be twenty-three
And you'll see just how clever I can be
Do you wanna tie me up?
Do you wanna tie me down?
Go ahead and do it now
So far, so good
Let it roll, let it ride, ride
So far, so good
Let us fall, let us fight, fight
It's no fun on the sidelines
Driving backwards, wasting time
Young love is ruthless, so learn to fly
You taught me things I can't forget
Positions that I don't regret
I can't walk away
And I can't shake the taste
Do you wanna tie me up?
Do you wanna tie me down?
Go ahead and do it now
So far, so good
Let it roll, let it ride, ride
So far, so good
Let us fall, let us fight, fight
It's no fun on the sidelines
It's no fun on the sidelines
Now I'm home
Don't write a word
'Cause I won't reply
We still spend most afternoons like that
But not for long
I find myself enjoying you
But you play these reckless games
You'll never lose as long as I'm around
Do you wanna tie me down?
Go ahead and do it now
So far, so good
Let it roll, let it ride, ride
So far, so good
Let us fall, let us fight, fight
It's no fun on the sidelines
And when you fake a laugh behind the wheel

With a sunken lie, I lay in bed
But I will live to be twenty-three
And you'll see just how clever I can be
Do you wanna tie me down?
Go ahead and do it now
So far, so good
Let it roll, let it ride, ride
So far, so good
Let us fall, let us fight, fight

Young love is ruthless, so learn to fly

So far, so good
Let it roll, let it ride, ride
So far, so good

'Cause I won't reply

i hope you're kidding about gabe. that would be a little pathetic.
I cant WAIT to hear this effing song in a few days!
From the lyrics it seems this song is about a relationship built on sex (has never been anything else), which this young boy, appearantly william since he's twenty three this year, has been dragged into. And it seems to him that the older woman underestimates him and she doesn't believe in the relationship at all. She's just in it for the sex and doesn't picture a future where he is involved.
He feels betrayed, even if he doesn't manage to convince himself that he regrets it. But still he sees where this is all going, she'll just continue to benefit on it while there is nothing in it for him, she takes him for granted and suddenly he's aware that she has had no reason not to until now. So he leaves without a scene. He will not reply to her if she tries to contact him. He's done wasting time, now moving on with his young life.
Heeeeeeeeeey......Mrs.Robinson much?
This song reminds me of that movie. Good film.
Can't wait for this album. And I concur with the previous comment.
......and im not bitter, no, its just ive passed that point in my life...
When I first heard this song i thought it was about a relationship that was purely sex that he wants to end but its so great he cant. "You taught me things I can't forget Positions that I don't regret I can't walk away And I can't shake the taste"
Ya. So.
This song makes me feel like in the end he feels a little bad for the women. Like she's older than he is, but she still hasn't grown up.
i love this song, its my fav off the album along with rumored nights...i think its about always fighting with someone...and then finally it just gets to the point where they realize its better to end it...idk
i don't know why only one person said this... but it's about a relationship (not necessarily BASED on sex, but with new sexual experiences, if you will) with an older woman. cougar = attractive older woman.
xalixo - I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that lyric.
For those who don't know - the band The Format have a song that goes, "don't write a word 'cause I won't reply, and I'm not bitter, no, it's just I'm past that point in my life," which is a very similar message to this song's. I wonder if it's a coincidence or if he was referencing that song?
This song would be better if:
1) The title of the album wasn't "Fast Times at Barrington High" 2) It was sung/rapped by Snoop Dogg
