Its not pain when you breathe in two,
No one to catch your insecurities
You cling to the sadness in your dreams
Being happy is something you don't need

You know how to play that game
Even though your the only one that plays
So attached to the feeling that you fake
Your weakness is your own strength

[Chorus]
Your so emotional, I don't think you feel anything
So conversation over, every time you start to scream
Dark circles around your eyes, your drop of tears inside
You always swear, this the last tear, you'll ever cry
You traded honesty for lies
You faked it all of your life
You always swear, this is the last tear
You will ever cry

Are you bored with the life you chose
You pushed them all the way, you know
You never allowed yourself to grow
Your angry at me now that you are exposed
Your story always based on fiction,
So many layers of contradictions
Only fear has driven your decisions
Has become your one addiction

[Chorus: x2]

You always swear, this is the last tear
You will ever cry

Listening to this song... on this day. Every choice leads to sadness even when it seems necessary or right at the time. Being open and honest with others. just to be shot down

Sick of this pain. of crying because of it and them. so close to shutting up, closing and barricading within.

Knowledge that your the cause, that your the drama queen. you pretend your ok. when inside yoru screaming for someone to see through you. and wipe the tear from your face.

Trading the honesty you have with those who say they're your friends or love. only to have that honesty come back and crush you into despair. a small step to lying and being fake. for thier sakes as wel as your own.

lol what it makes me think neway >.>

I think it's more about a compulsive liar who pretends to be sad just for people to feel sorry for him/her and was exposed and now people are realizing that his/her story is fake. Reminds me of a friend I had who said she was a druggie and had all these issues that were found to be false.

    My Interpretation

I think its about a person who tries to be happy but inside is so very sad and messed up. Not an emo people actually have issues. It is hard to pretend to be happy for everyone else when you feel sad. You feel fake and misunderstood. It's about the fakeness of having to always be happy for other people and not being able to be your self with anyone. You cry and cry and try so much to be better and happy but it never happens. You are angry at yourself because you are as fake as everyone else.

This song I believe is about someone who hides how they truly feel because they are hurt by their past. But it also is about someone who can not make up their mind and feels one way one moment then another way the next, and never learns from their past mistakes, and keeps letting their choices beat themselves down into the same hole even though they refuse they wont cry anymore.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
