this song to me is about a guy who cant get over an ex-girlfriend who left for some reason broke up with him and he didnt see it coming so now he's trying to cope with the whole thing but its taking him a long time to get over her. therefore he has to "entertain the pain" to make the bad not seem so bad.
To me this song seems to be about alot of different things.
A guy can't stop thinking about his ex. But at the same time it almost sounds like he's bitter that she left him, so even if she tried coming back, he's saying shes better off moving on because it just wouldn't be the same, she ruined what they had, so its really not worth it, so even though he wants her, its kinda like he's saying "i miss you, but you had your chance, so you might as well not even try."
