I've finally come to realize that we are all the same
If there's nothing left to lose then there's everything to gain
All the paragraphs and pages you could write could not contain
It is curious and careless and it's flowing through my veins

The fear of growing old, and doing what you're told

You can't disguise a heart while it's breaking
You hide behind the smile you're faking
It's all about the the chance you're taking
Oh, and you know that you're making it all come alive
It all come alive

If your life is so damn comfortable then why do you complain?
A reflection in the alcohol you're pouring down the drain
Just because you paint a picture doesn't mean it fits the frame
This is my West Coast intervention and I'm getting on that plane

When all of your mistakes are keeping you awake

You can't disguise a heart while it's breaking
You hide behind the smile you're faking
It's all about the the chance you're taking
Oh, and you know that you're making
You can't disguise a heart while it's breaking
You hide behind the smile you're faking
It's all about the the chance you're taking
Oh, and you know that you're making it all come alive
It all come alive

The sun is setting and it's ending 'cause you're letting it go
Forgetting everything you already know
And it all goes to show that you're moving to slow
It will end up changing you, it will end up changing you

You can't disguise a heart while it's breaking
You hide behind the smile you're faking
It's all about the the chance you're taking
Oh, and you know that you're making

Life flies by so you have to embrace it
Forget the past 'cause you cannot erase it
And live the dream, and learn to chase it
And when you can almost taste it
It's all come alive
It's all come alive
It's all come alive
It's all come alive

i remember dave(vocals) talking about this song. he was saying something like this guy backstage somwhere said "you're making it all come alive" and this other person heard it and even though it wasn't directed to him, it made him feel better.

    something like that.

I think this song is about a transition of someone hiding who they are to someone shedding that outter layer in order to let people inside. Through out the song, the lyrics hint at this, particulary in the alcohol area: "If your life is so damn comfortable then why do you complain?A reflection in the alcohol you're pouring down the drain." Alcohol represents a numbness that this person has felt(a comfortable state of mind in you will), but in pouring it down the drain he/she is ridding of a normality to them. It's one of the many steps in letting feeling in, happy and sad. When the lyrics sing, "And it all goes to show that you're moving to slow..It will end up changing you," the lyrics can mean that trying to move forward and taking your time can't be done on the same clock. If you take your time in moving on a person can get caught up in the things that surround them; it's easier to get stuck( which is what has happened to the charecter in the song)

I guess what I am trying to prove is that this songs moral is to never let yourself become someone you arent because you are scared of what you could be. When in the wake, the realization of what has happened is much worse than just feeling the realness of everything when as it happens

Live life while your living it. "its all about the chance your taking" take chances. act how your feeling. be yourself. cause you mistakes could be keeping you up at night. you make your life happen. embraces life cause before you know it its gone. what happened in the past is the past. you cant change it so go forward full force. Full speed ahead. i think thats what its about. did that help??

"If there's nothing left to lose then there's every to gain"

"Just because you paint a picture doesn't mean it fits the frame"

this are my two fav lines! i think this song is about taking life as it comes. you can try to plan everything out but in the end life has unexpected twists and turns that you cant control and have to deal with as they come. yet at the same time, you need to steer your life in the direction you want it to go and not let others make your desicions for you. you cant let being scared of what life has in store hold you back.

You guys are really hitting the nail on the head with this song. It's definitely a reflection of life and coming to terms with getting older and coming of age. It touches on all of the aspects we go through, love, loss, friendships, and living life to the fullest. It's very touching and very artistically beautiful. In essence he simply says we are all the same and we all experience life in different ways yet its up to us to face our problems and to take chances before its too late and "you're moving to slow". We should all live like this.

i think it's about someone who doesn't realizes who lucky he is with his life and is not taking the chances that are handed to him. "life flies by so you have to embrace it" this line explains everything. it's a good song, good meaning and i wish more people could this like this.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
