In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
You never alter
You're always you
Everything's breaking
But I don't care
Smash the rest up
Burn it down
Put us in the corner 'cause we're into ideas
Take these edges
They're inside out
No one will notice
They're looking elsewhere
We can't be honest
We call it off
We got the choice if it all goes wrong
We walk, we walk
We walk, we walk
You see the changes
In things that come
It's how you deal with it
When switching off
Make a decision
A precondition
We got the choice if it all goes wrong
We walk, we walk
We walk, we walk
When nothing makes you feel good
Then nothing makes you feel good
You're always you
Everything's breaking
But I don't care
Smash the rest up
Burn it down
Put us in the corner 'cause we're into ideas
Take these edges
They're inside out
No one will notice
They're looking elsewhere
We can't be honest
We call it off
We got the choice if it all goes wrong
We walk, we walk
We walk, we walk
You see the changes
In things that come
It's how you deal with it
When switching off
Make a decision
A precondition
We got the choice if it all goes wrong
We walk, we walk
We walk, we walk
When nothing makes you feel good
Then nothing makes you feel good

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Punchline

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
this song is amazing :] i love it. the best by the ting tings, i think. and i'm pretty sure this is just about moving on from whatever goes wrong and continue with your life, basically.
i love the piano intro ♫♪♪♪♪♪♫♪
the use of pronouns confirms that the girl is complaining about her relationship in the song. She is finding faults in her guy/girl and at the same time trying to be practical about the issue.
the lyrics are cleverly written as it deviates the listeners from her personal issue, towards a more "i-can-relate-to-this-song" feeling...as simply translated this song can be about- taking risks in life or "coming-out-of-the-box" ....and even if it fails we carry on....
I,personally, really like the line- "Put us in corner...Cuz we're into ideas" Free thinking is not accepted by all society!
I'm happy to be the first on to comment on this song! It's my favorite by the Ting Tings. Recently discovered them, and I absolutely love them.
Just the combination of the beat, the tune, and the lyrics of this song is so great.
it means you should do things that you wanna do, but when it turn out wrong and you don't know what to do anymore, you could always walk away from it.
its about a relationship i think, the relationships not going so well so they walk around and talk about it
I'm falling in love with The Ting Tings more and more as I listen to their whole album. Lyk srsly~ :3
This is really one of my faves. 3 thumbs up! :D
I think it may be about generation Y? where we have so many choices and ideas etc. We know what we want and when it doesn't turn out we move on to new ideas?
amazing.i thought this too. especially the part "everything's breaking. but i don't care." i think the "walk" aspect also says a lot, as opposed say, to running. "walking" also gives off a very calm, i don't care about the world type of thing
