Hello Vagina

Actually, gang, I was itching to know what it was about myself so I actually asked Richard in person. His answer was that a lot of their songs were written when they were high or drunk, so at times the lyrics didn't really mean a whole lot. But for this particular song, it has a few meanings.

1.) They are very good friends with the band Everything, Now!, who have a tendency to write songs about vaginas. So this song is somewhat of a tribute to that bizarre trait (haha).

2.) The more appropriate meaning behind the song is about rebirth. His description was blunt and short, but he just said the real factor in the song is that vagina is a reference to being reborn.

Hope that helped everyone. Of course, Richard seemed a tad "under the influence" at the time too, but he still seemed to be able to intelligently discuss his music. I think we can trust what he said.

i don't understand the title at all.

This song is pretty definitely about masturbation. In the first verse, "I am your mother," can refer to children coming from vaginas. This song is basically an awkward teenager's vagina talking to her XD

When they say "monkey," I think they make reference to and old moniker for drugs. If you think of sex as as a drug, or the euphoria of climax, the logic follows.

And then all the "right hand" comments. Masturbation, young discovery of sexual parts, ta-da.

One of my favorite songs off the new album. I love how eerie and empty the song sounds, yet still is full of emotion.

i am your monkey, stay a while.

My uncle bought their new CD "Not Animal" and let me borrow it, and when I saw this song's title, I laughed, thinking i probably wouldn't like it.. but this song ended up being my favorite. ^_^

My interpretation is that a girl, not exactly the best-looking in the eyes of the media: "Coke-bottle glasses, Tv screen" is pregnant (second line). And when they say "This is the end of Bollywood", maybe he's saying she has to grow up now...?

And then in the second verse, he's talking about the man who got her pregnant. and how he gets abusive when he's drunk. (I have no clue what "I am your monkey" might mean.) ._. But then, when it says: "I am reborn, your favorite son." He's talking about the girl having his baby, and how much the girl loves the baby.

And then the chorus: "I am your right hand, I am your best man, I am, I am, I am."

I think it's the guy telling the girl how she needs him, how he is the only one she has, and that's why she stays with him.

and then finally, the last two lines: "I am your way to heaven's gate So pour me a drink, for we fly away." I think it's saying that -with enough alcohol- the man will eventually get so abusive to the point, he might kill the girl.

And so the title is saying that the man may not have even loved her. He just saw that she had a vagina, and welcomed himself in. "Hello Vagina".

This is what I'm guessing it might mean. I may not be right though. >_< But either way, It is a truly beautiful song. <3

yeahh this is a reference to the Heaven's Gate cult suicide from the 90's
