Bide Your Time Lyrics
The temptation is all too great
And now it's gone and it's all too late
I tried and I tried, I never applied
Any of the morals that I wish I had
You wait fifty-one weeks
Through all of your hides
And all of your seeks
When the time finally arrives
It dawns on me the attention derives
From the girlfriend that you left at home
Sitting in your living room all alone
You hate the suntan
And you can't stand to be around the short sleeved man
And the gaggle of girls who are singing too loud
Well they do my head in
You hate the tattoos
And you can't handle the skinheads
The ones who cannot handle their booze
They’re making you scared to be proud
Are you scared to be proud?
How can that still be?
Come and sing your heart out with me
But if you bide your time
And you stand there
And you wait in line
It won't be long before a surrong
Is lying on your bedroom floor
But what about the girlfriend you left at home
Sitting in her living room all alone
You hate the suntan
And you can't stand to be around
The short sleeved man
And the gaggle of girls who are singing too loud
Well they do my head in
You hate the tattoos
And you can't handle the skinheads
The ones who cannot handle their booze
They’re making you scared to be proud
How is that still allowed?
Are you scared to be proud when you're on cloud number nine?
And the girlfriend you left at home sitting in your living room all alone
You hate the suntan
And you can't stand to be around the short sleeved man
And the gaggle of girls who are singing too loud
They fucking do my head in
You hate the tattoos
And you can't handle the skinheads
The ones who cannot handle their booze
They’re making you scared to be proud
Are you scared to be proud?
How is that still allowed when you’re on cloud number nine?

does know one else think this song worthy of a comment well
One of my favourite courteeners songs! Amazing live. That one line 'it wont be long before a sarong is lying on your bedroom floor' Love it.
I cant believe how big this band have got recently, i remember whey back when they were just starting out not surprised they got so popular though.
this song is pretty fooking MEGA, i cant wait to see em at Beni while spotting the tats bobbing around.
great song.. great band cnt wait till Oxford gig..
its about building yourself up for a holiday and then once you get there, realising its not all you hyped it up to be. you hate the drunk groups of girls, and the lads who want to cause fights and (show off their arms?(short sleeved man)) and the 'scared to be proud' is because Brits make fools of themselves on holiday you should be thinking about your girlfriend back home, but all you can do is complain about the holiday.. so true!
nice! sweet interpretation.
nice! sweet interpretation.
Start by saying what an awesome song.
pretty much sums up the time I went to Malia with the lads, even though I had girlfriend at home.
'The tension derives from the girlfriend that you left at home, sitting in her living room all alone'
thinking about her at home whilst your sitting get hammered all day with 'gaggling girls' , pillocks with no tops on who are covered in tattoos and sunburn.
pretty much reminds me of that holiday
Hate to be pedantic as i appreciate the site but isn't it....
...I never APPLIED any of the morales i wish i had"
Makes more sense.
