Monsoon Lyrics
I feel sorrow for the fear
And everything it brings
Wonder if it will ever sleep
I know you understand
‘Cause you briefly look away
Focusing on nothing so now everything is clear
‘Cause there’s no one to blame
You got no place to hide
It’s only in your mind
And I saw you in amazement stumbling through the day
You told me time never waits
What is that supposed to mean?
All of life is in one drop of the ocean waiting to go home
Just waiting to go home
And if the moon can turn the tides
It can pull the tears and take ‘em from our eyes
And make ‘em into monsoons
And turn ‘em into monsoon-er or later they’ll weep their way back to the sea
Gonna finally be free
Yeah, free for a while
Until they break like waves of sorrow always do
All in due time
‘Cause time never waits
Daddy don’t daydream again
Just help me to believe and then
Show me that there’s more than the mean time
Sonny do you hear the sound?
You will feel it when it breaks
You will know it when it’s gone
How else can I explain?
‘Cause it’s only the pain
Coming straight through
Coming to remind
Cross cut to you in amazement stumbling through the day
You tell me time never waits
That’s okay ‘cause I don’t wait for time
When all of life is in one drop of the ocean waiting to go home
Just waiting to go home
And if the moon can turn the tides
It can pull the tears and take ‘em from our eyes
And turn ‘em into monsoons
And make ‘em into monsoon-er or later they’ll weep their way back to the sea
Gonna finally be free
Free for a while
Until they break (mmmm)
Like waves of sorrow always break
All in due time
‘Cause time never waits
And everything it brings
Wonder if it will ever sleep

This is a great song, definitely thought out and deep. I think that what Jack is trying to say, in relation to the environment, is that we need to be cautious about global warming and how humans are slowly destroying the Earth.
"All of life is in one drop of the ocean waiting to go home Just waiting to go home And if the moon can turn the tides It can pull the tears and take ‘em from our eyes And turn ‘em into monsoons"
Tears are related to mother nature's waters, and how human emotion and purpose sometimes get it the way of helping our environment. But if we don't watch for these signs, our Earth will be destroyed all in due time.
I also think that when he says "daddy" he is relating to God, or something of that sort, whom has not been watching over their child (Earth).
My interpretation, anyways..
This and Hope are my favorite songs
Its about how time keeps moving even if you going through good or bad times. Not to let time keep moving, but to go take advantage of the time you are given.
This is BY FAR my favorite song.
"And if the moon can turn the tides It can pull the tears and take ‘em from our eyes And turn ‘em into monsoons And make ‘em into monsoon-er or later they’ll weep their way back to the sea"
Amazing. He's talking about the progression of time, and how it will keep moving forward. Crazy things can happen, and unexpected things as we "stumble through the day". But water always returns to the sea in the end. And life, what a journey it can be.
We are the one drop of the ocean waiting to go home. And when we finally return to sea, we'll be free. But he says "free for a while until they break like waves of sorrow always break". Maybe this could also be about a specific troubling time in life? ...as well as life in general. This is my favorite song on this album. I love it. :)
on an inverview with jack i saw he said this some has something 2 do with the enviornment. i dont c how but im not good at finding meanings. i still love this song and jack johnson!
This is my favorite song by Jack Johnson...he is such a sick guy
when i hear/read this song, i see the cyclical nature of things, riding the wave up and down and up and down and down and up and On & On (hehe).
Respectfully, alex
I think this song is about not letting life's hardships paralyze you with depression. That you could make up your own mind to rise above whatever you're going through. "‘Cause there’s no one to blame; You got no place to hide; It’s only in your mind." No matter what, everyone is going to experience "sorrow", and it's up to you to keep moving forward despite these obstacles, because time won't wait for you. Basically it's saying don't let life pass you by, and to keep living your life no matter what and eventually you will experience happiness again. This is what it means to me, because I deal a lot with depression. I love this song, it is so inspirational to me :)
I think this song is about me and Brittany
I agree with nrugg33, I just love the part "And make 'em into monsoons And turn 'em into monsoon-er or later they'll weep their way back to the sea"
This song is just screaming "Don't let life bring you down, you have to move forward."
