Bubble Toes Lyrics
my girlfriend walked in on me singing in front of the mirror to this song
dude, i just heard this song, and heard "DLG" and thought UCSB!!! could it be?!?
AND IT WAS!!!
...i'm giddy as a school girl that I got that reference. someone pat me on the head
This is definitely a toe-tappin' tune, but the part I love best is the line "If you would only listen you might just realize what you're missing, you're missing me." It explains miscommunication so very well. I can't add to it, it's just genius.
I have always wondered, what the heck are "tar balls"? Should I know this already?
Other than that, I have to say I find this song delightful. I like Jack's whimsical lyrics, like "she moves like a jellyfish," and his style of delivery perfectly complements them.
I also like how all of Jack's song portray the ambivalence of love - he sees this woman's imperfections very well, but his main complaint is that she doesn't listen.
YOu get tar balls on your feet from walking around the beaches of southern california, maybe other ones. I grew up surfing Bolsa Chica and my feet would literally have tar on the bottom that took serious scrubbing to get off. that might have something to do with why there are oil rigs out there.

But that line makes my family smile because it reminds us of the good days before I hade to move, and we were all happy. hahah one happy tar covered family.

On the beaches in San Diego where he met his wife there is tar that seeps through the sand and sticks to your feet. Also the "DLG" is a dining hall at their college

i love the connections that only a few people will get from this song . . . ^_^
Jack Johnson graduated from UCSB and the DLG is the De La Guerra Dining Commons . . . it's cool thinking how cool it is that i might be sitting in the same spot as he is when he saw that girl
his style of music fits his background of a UCSB surfer and film maker . . . very laid back and relaxing . . . perfect song for beach parties
This guy is such a great songwriter, this song's awesome. Jack Johnson's SO big in Santa Cruz, since half of us are just washed up surfers with seawater flowing through our ears. But yah, he does good job of taking her imperfections along with her good things. A must in anything is to realize the bad with the goo.
pat pat
This song rocks..... hard.....
the "tar balls" on her feet could be the tar from walking on the beach.
